Although I am far from being a connoisseur of the works of film and series directors, I can say that I certainly follow and admire Mike Flanagan as a director. My favorite genre is Horror and Mike has directed several of my favorites such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher and Doctor Sleep.
So, I chose to watch the series Midnight Mass by its Director, which you can see on Netflix, 7 chapters of one hour each, I saw it in two days. However, I did not have the same experience with his previous works, I am going to tell you a little about what the series Midnight Mass is about, something about its main characters, What I Liked, What I Didn't Like and Whether I recommend it or not.

De manera que, escogí ver la serie Misa de Medianoche por su Director, que la puedes ver en Netflix, 7 capítulos de una hora cada uno, yo la vi en dos días. Sin embargo, no tuve la misma experiencia con sus trabajos anteriores, te voy a contar un poco de que va la serie Misa de Medianoche, algo de sus personajes principales, Lo que Me Gustó, Lo que No Me Gustó y Si la recomiendo o no.
Midnight Mass is a psychological horror miniseries created and directed by Mike Flanagan, which takes place in a small coastal community called Crockett Island, which from the beginning looks very run-down, it's as if time had stopped, and people had lost faith and hope.
Although there are many secondary characters with less developed arcs, but they are there, the series is mainly based on four people:

Beverly Keane is a very striking character, a teacher at Crockett Island School. She appears to be a very correct, deeply religious woman who is judgmental, not kind or really nice to her community. At first she acts as a close support to Father Paul, but then she begins to influence his decisions and to cover up the signs of darkness that he shows, all with the aim of protecting her faith and preventing it from being questioned publicly.
Beverly Keane un personaje muy impactante, profesora en la escuela de Crockett Island, luce como una mujer muy correcta, profundamente religiosa que juzga, no es gentil ni agradable realmente a su comunidad. Erin Greene works as a teacher for children, and feels somewhat of a failure and rejected by the people of the town, since she had a dream of being an actress, but she had to return to the town pregnant and alone. She is a good friend of Riley.
By the way, the actress who plays Erin is a constant in Mike Flanagan's series, and as an extra fact I tell you that she is his wife in real life.
Erin Greene, trabaja dando clases a niños, y se siente algo fracasada y repudiada por las personas del pueblo, ya que tenía un sueño de ser actriz, pero tuvo que regresar al pueblo embarazada y sola. Es muy amiga de Riley.

The point is that now some extremely strange events begin to occur on the island, such as seemingly divine miracles, which revive the faith of the inhabitants.
Little by little we discover that these miracles are not divine at all, and that it is a kind of very powerful vampire, an evil entity that has a plan to capture them through the church and then destroy them.
This plot will develop throughout the 7 chapters, it will have important twists, revelations, performances in which some characters will make decisions as perhaps we would make them, some quite moving character arcs, and the development of the climax will be somewhat dark and different from what Flanagan has accustomed us to. It must also be said that I did not expect the ending.
El punto es que ahora empiezan a ocurrir hechos sumamente extraños en la isla, como milagros aparentemente divinos, lo que revive la fe de los habitantes.
Poco a poco descubrimos que estos milagros no son nada divinos, y que se trata de una especie de vampiro muy poderoso, un ente maligno que tiene un plan de captarlos a través de la iglesia y luego destruirlos.
Esta trama se desarrollará a lo largo de los 7 capítulos, tendrá giros importantes, revelaciones, actuaciones en las que algunos personajes tomaran decisiones como tal vez nosotros las tomaríamos, algunos arcos de personajes bastantes conmovedores, y el desarrollo del clímax será algo sombrío y diferente a lo que nos tiene acostumbrado Flanagan. Cabe también decir que el final no me lo esperaba.
Good acting.
Some good conversations about religion. I particularly liked one that takes place at the school during a meeting with representatives, about tolerance towards other religions, although I think it could have been better, I liked that Sheriff Hassan mentioned that point.
The themes that I feel were well presented, such as Faith-religion-fanaticism. I think that on more than one occasion it makes us wonder: How far are we willing to believe? Regarding the experiences that challenge our logic and invite us to reflect on the nature of reality.

Algunas buenas conversaciones sobre la religión. Me gustó sobre todo una que tiene lugar en la escuela durante una reunión con representantes, sobre la tolerancia hacia otras religiones, aunque creo que pudo ser mejor, me gustó que el Sheriff Hassan haya mencionado ese punto.
Los temas que siento que si se plantearon bien, como La fe-religión-fanatismo. Creo que en más de una ocasión nos hace preguntarnos ¿Hasta dónde estamos dispuestos a creer? En cuanto a las experiencias que desafían nuestra lógica y nos invitan a reflexionar sobre la naturaleza de la realidad.
I have to put the conversations both in what I liked and what I didn't like, because there are conversations that I found very long and even annoying. To explain myself better, I must mention the movie Nefarious about which I made my post, that the entire movie is a dialogue, and it never bores, it is full of pure substance, philosophy, ideology, reflections, etc. However, in Midnight Mass, although there was an intention or a theme to develop, they made it mostly very tedious and long.
The vampire or demon, physically, seemed to me to be a character that took away a lot of seriousness from the series. This is a very, very personal opinion, because who am I to question Mike Flanagan? But that character, and the story of that character, seemed to me to take away a lot of quality.
The supernatural events seemed excessive and unnecessary to me, they even diverted attention from some that were worth having more focus.
Although it presents us with traumas of the characters Riley Finn and Erin Greene, suddenly it stops being important to continue developing them. In fact, I think that if they removed those stories about the past of both, the series would have continued the same.
Las conversaciones debo colocarlas tanto en lo que Me Gustó, como en lo que No Me Gustó, porque hay conversaciones que se me hicieron muy largas y hasta fastidiosas. Para explicarme mejor debo mencionar a la película Nefarious de la cual hice mi post, que toda la película es un diálogo, y nunca aburre, está lleno de sustancia pura, filosofía, ideología, reflexiones, etc. Sin embargo, en Misa de Medianoche, aunque había una intención o un tema que desarrollar, lo hicieron en su mayoría muy tedioso y largo.
El vampiro o demonio, físicamente me pareció un personaje que le restó mucha seriedad a la serie. Esto es ya una opinión muy, muy personal, porque ciertamente ¿Quién soy yo para cuestionar a Mike Flanagan? Pero ese personaje, y la historia de ese personaje me pareció que le restó mucha calidad.
Los eventos sobrenaturales, me parecieron excesivos e innecesarios, incluso desviaban la atención de algunos que si merecían la pena tener más foco.
Aunque nos presenta traumas de los personajes Riley Finn y Erin Greene, de pronto deja de tener importancia continuar desarrollándolos. Incluso, creo que si quitan esas historias sobre el pasado de ambos, la serie hubiese continuado igual.
Well, of all of Director Mike Flanagan's works, this is the one I liked the least. In fact, if it was the first work I had seen from him, I don't think I would have followed it much.
It's not like I wasted my time, but it wasn't deep enough to admire, it didn't deliver the Horror I expected compared to his previous works, and I didn't find it really relevant. No, I wouldn't recommend it, for me it was a 4/10.

No es como si hubiese perdido mi tiempo, pero es que no fue lo suficientemente profunda para admirarla, no dio el Terror que esperaba en comparación con sus trabajos anteriores, no me pareció relevante realmente. No, no la recomendaría, para mí fue un 4/10.
