I am proud to announce the first podcast for the Hive Pro Wrestling community.
Why Are You The Way You Are is a wrestling podcast hosted by @hiphoppington and myself, @hive.consultant. We have discussed hosting a podcast for a long time. We both enjoy discussions on a wide variety of topics. While our first podcast is going to be pro wrestling based, I am sure many other topics from current events, news, politics, crypto, and blockchain will be touched upon.
While we have been friends for years, have worked together for years at the same IT company, and generally have a lot of common interests, you'll also note that we are ideologically in almost every way. We have had many debates over the years, and while it's usually on very different views on very serious topics, we have always remained friends and respectful of each other.
I'm sure that real-life relationship and drastically different views will bleed over to the content. However, I am glad to call him a friend, and I hope this sets a good example that people do not alway have to agree on everything to respect and care for each other.
We will begin our wrestling podcast journey with a throwback to the old days. Sure, we will probably touch on some current news and events, but we have decided to review the WCW days of old, one episode at a time.
We will begin with a 4 part series on The Black Scorpion angle. This takes place over 2 Clash of Champions, Halloween Havoc and Starcade. The first episode will be Clash of Champions 12 from 09/05/90.
Once we finish this first 4 part series on the Black Scorpion angle, we are going to switch to WCW Saturday nights which begins in 1992. We will add in any Clashes or PPV along the way. We will stay in chronological order.
The format of the podcast is that each week we will announce the next episode so that you the listener can go to the WWE Network and watch the episode. We encourage you to take part in this trip, and please let us know what you think in the comments section below. As the audience grows, we will explore the idea of watching some episodes live with live chat so that we can discuss in real time. We will also have other members of Hive Pro Wrestling (HPW) join us on the Zoom calls for episodes.
I am toying with the idea of having the ability for members to pay a fee in hive to have their voice heard on a Zoom call in show. This may be about the WCW episodes or the current state of wrestling. Let's say the fee is 10 HIVE for a HPW member to call in. The fee will be split 4 ways: 2.5 to each host (@hiphoppington, @hive.consultant, 2.5 to the HPW curating account (@hiveprowrestling), and 2.5 to the HPW Championship account (@hpwchampionship) which will be a floating account rewarded to community members to hold contests.
Here's a little theory behind the HPW Championship account. So this account will receive funds from fees raised from the community. While the #WAYTWYA Wrestling Podcast is the first to raise fees, hopefully community members will find unique ways to also assist in raising fees as well. We will set a fee limit at which time once a set limit of Hive has been raised, the holder of the belt must host a community contest. The winner of this contest will have the total set amount of Hive transferred to their account as a reward. Any additional Hive raised will go towards the next round. The winner will also receive control of the account, and as the HPW Champion, this person is responsible for the state of business during his title reign. They must promote and do everything in their power to raise the Hive fees so that the next contest can be held, and the winner can be crowned HPW Champion and take control of the account.
Now, there's also a chance that the person who receives control of the account does very little to promote, or maybe they even try to keep control of the belt as long as possible. There is a social dynamic to the contest winner, you don't know what they will do, or if they will be trustworthy. I'm not quite sure if we simply use the honor system, look for the best option to use multi-sig (if available), or use the account recovery for a bad actor. I probably need some more insight on exactly how to run this account.
I think the # hashtags will be useful for this game. I will set the rules of the community that in order to be curated by the HPW curation account, that you must use the following hashtags: #hpw, and also either #hpw-face, or #hpw-heel. It will let other community members know the likelihood of how you would rule as the champion, although we could always see heel and face turns, and we are dealing with real-life community members who can take the game in many directions that we cannot imagine. Some people in the community will become real life heroes like a face, and many will become hated, like a heel.
There are dynamics to this idea that we need to work out first. I'll probably start a thread to discuss the rules of the HPW Championship and how we can set it up to keep from the account being held hostage. But it does induce some real-life drama into the community.
