The honeypot on Hive, and previously Steem, was always full and the honey is sweet. Some have managed to feed themselves from it with a bigger spoon while others only got to sip once in a while. I guess that's how life is on DPOS systems. There's no place on earth where you can find a perfect community and probably never will.
I was reading yesterday about the situation of @jrcornel and his alt account @jondoe and tbh I never liked this guy, neither hated him. I have muted @jrcornel for some years on Hive, same as other stars around here, but was still following his @jondoe account on Leofinance. Didn't have any clue that it was the same person owning the same account. "They both" weren't too engaging that's for sure.
Before moving forward with the topic of the post I'll briefly mention why I muted this guy and why I didn't like him. First of all because I always hated circle jerking and he was a part of such thing, secondly I considered that most of his posts were overvalued milking tens of HIVE out of the rewards pool with almost every article he put out, while many others were struggling for a buck or two, and third reason was that I commented on his posts quite a few times with no reply. I don't like people that don't at least bother answering to comments on their posts.
I don't like this type of people because they only pay attention to whoever pays them and is part of their circle and they somehow prove that they care more about posting their stuff and ensure they're getting their circle jerking deserved share from the rewards pool and once that becomes a given they don't give a shit about interacting anymore.
From what I read, people started downvoting him for continuing to cross post on Steemit as well, aside from owning two accounts that he was using on Hive. Now I don't know if downvoting should have been the best option. Yes, I don't like him and gave you my reasoning for that above, but if I were any whale that has supported him for years I would simply take away my support for him and share that with other users, some that probably deserve it better.
How Much Is Too Much Though?
When you have a supposed case of milking the rewards pool you have to take into account how many posts he was putting out on a daily basis. Back in the days, when I only knew about @jrcornel without his alt account, he was posting once a day, but almost every time he was getting to trending with his content and that happened thanks to his friends, who are probably no longer his mates now. After I checked his accounts now, I saw that he's upped his norm and he was putting out lately two posts a day.
Add other two from his alt account and you have this guy throwing out four posts a day. Both accounts were scoring nice rewards and none was in the position of hustling on this chain for their piece of the pie, like many of us around here that don't have the reputation scores, which imo are meaningless, nor the fame to guarantee ourselves daily considerable content rewards.
Now the question that's actually the topic of the post is: are four posts a day too much? Yes and no... No, they aren't too much when you think that we're living on a decentralized blockchain based social media platform where almost anything is morally allowed, and yes they are too much when you take into account that most of us are posting once or twice a day. I mean, when you post more often than others you basically not only collect more rewards, but also kill the visibility for others and being on auto votes you don't leave that much power left from these curators to other content creators...
It's a bit of a tricky situation... and the ugliest part in it is the fact that the guy created himself two accounts and used them to post content on Hive instead of simply using his main one that got him the reputation to put out all of his content. He basically tried to trick curators into believing he's actually two and leave with quite nice author rewards every day from the rewards pool. From the numbers perspective I don't believe four posts a day are too much, although I wouldn't do that, for the above mentioned reasons. We've had many others posting at this pace on the chain and at least one is still a respectable user in here, so what's the problem...
The problem is lying to your community, the ones that considered you a friend in this online space and trusted you. That's where I see the problem. If he'd posted from his main account four times a day, curators would have probably adjusted their votes and nobody would have accused him any longer of milking. Posting to Steemit also and even selling Hive for STEEM is another thing though...
I'd say that Hive community members should be more careful with their superstars and auto votes. Many are taking too much for granted around here, after they've seen they're reputation bags loaded and auto votes are helping them achieve that. At the end of the day if I were any of the ones supporting his content I would simply take away my support and pass that to others. That simple...
I would appreciate though if you'd like to share your take, in this community engagement type of post, in regards of how much is too much. How many posts a day, whether coming from just an account or a person owning two accounts, are too much?... In my case what comes after the second one is too much and I really don't remember when was the last time I posted three times a day... If you care about others, and especially your followers you would know that you're not the only one posting to their feeds and it's hard for anyone to digest that much content.
Stay informed my friends, keep your eyes open, and your voting power on manual mode 😁. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
