Dollar is acceptable for buying of goods and services on importation into Nigeria. Most of the things we use in Nigeria are mostly imported from foreign countries which there're bought with the use of USD. With the level of importation on almost all the things we use in Nigeria with Dollar is 40% but that doesn't mean it's the cause of hardship in Nigeria or why the economy is down.
With the current situation in Nigeria, there's high rate of hunger and starvation caused by food scarcity, poverty which many people believed that the cause if from the naira inflation to the dollar. With the way I have observed things in Nigeria, dollar value rate today is not the cause but our leaders and insecurities fear.
Because I read a news where the current president of Nigeria said that border closure will have to remain and people should be encouraged to farm so that they would be food in the country.
My question remain how will people farm why almost all the citizens in the country are in fear over the high rate of insecurity caused by kidnapping and killing. Farmers in Nigeria are reportedly killed by bandits almost every week so how do you claim that dollar use in Nigeria is that cause of hardship and hunger in the country when the president has blocked the border that's supposed to be allowing food importation into the country.
The states from the Northern parts of Nigeria that's known for food production are reportedly raped and killed by bandits. The fear from most farmers even from other parts of the country has reduced food level production and supply across the country. So how do you think that a country that has over 200 million people living in it can survive just the few food production in the country. That's not possible added with the border closure.
Even when most farmers in the country were farming without the interference of bandits and kidnappers, the food were not even enough but because the border was open it added to food circulation in the country.
Because Nigeria don't have enough money in the reservoir is what is making the naira to fall and the fall of Naira doesn't have much contribution on the hardship, hunger, and starvation but the scarcity of food because of no body to farm again and border closure.
So if the border closure in Nigeria could be lifted that will help to allow food circulation in the country. If the governors of each state in the country could pass order to fight insecurity that could allow farmers to farm. I believe this should reduce hardship, hunger, and starvation in the country.
