Hi,
today I've met a friend whom I last have seen 5 years ago, when he visited us with his wife.
It was nice to see him, especially, as we had a nice discussion about the past 5 years, and he thanked me for giving him a piece of advice, that changed his life.
He asked me a couple of years ago, why I don't wash my car. I really don't wash my car by myself and usually the car gets washed, when I travel to a place where other people wash the car for cheap. Like maximum €20, for an interior and exterior wash. I told him that this is cheap labour and I don't like, and I would pay someone else to do it. I understand people that like to wash it, but for me, it is no pleasure vacuuming and trying to get in any corner of it.
This was for him a small thing that he applied and also uses today. Like avoids any small arguments on the internet or mundane tasks he delegates. I try to apply it also, but don't manage to sustain it.
The small things, that can be done by someone else, I try to delegate. At work, I have some nice ladies that do the hard work, prepare my presentations and excel files, and are probably paid half as I am. Why? Because I try to do the most important things, not the hardest. I know that it is not fair, but this is life, and life is made by choices. Each choice we make, creates a possibility of paths, which might seem fair or not so fair.
When I try to make a choice, I try to see also the time impact, as this is the resource, that is the most scarce. If I can pay money for a task that cost time, I do it most of the time. Ok, there are some relevant work that I have to do, but this is referred to work that can be delegated.
Time is more valuable than crypto, as time is a finite resource.
How do you see it? Do you try to delegate, to save time?
