We know, the Hive platform gives us the option of Rehiving (bringing someone else's or our own posts to our blog page) and Cross-post (publishing your post to a community other than the one in which it was published initially). The prime purpose of both the options is to increase the visibility of the post. However, there is a difference in the two in terms of author reward. For a rehived post, the original post is circulated and the curation recieved on the post goes to the author; while in case of a cross- post a duplicate post is created and the reward on the cross-posted post is declined. In other words, an upvote to a cross- post doesn't bring any monetary benefits to the author.
A couple of days ago, I wrote a post for Dcooperation Community Contest with title Does God even exist supporting the tag #nature and #ecotrain. As per the rules of the contest, I posted it in the DCC community, but I realized that the post in that community wasn't that much visible (as I don't have that many followers right now). I had put so much effort to create that post in researching, referencing and using markdown, and above all I had poured my heart in it, so I wanted it to reach a bigger audience and I also desired to attain a better curation. That's why I decided to cross-post it in the ecotrain community.
In that community, I got a better curation that was more than double of the curation received on the original post (5.75 h vs 2.50 h). However, the curation received on the post was declined due to cross- posting, so I am not going to receive any rewards for that. For someone like me who is not yet recognized by a big whale and is struggling to attain better curation, it felt like a loss. But then I accepted it as acceptance is the best way for letting things go, as @selfhelp4trolls stated in his post Trust in life
I draw my power from the acceptance that if everything goes to shit, it just goes to shit and that is ok too. Itโs not preferable. We can work hard to make sure it doesnโt go to shit but my efforts have the greatest effect when Iโm not scared.
Nevertheless, I felt it worthy to bring this point to the curators' awareness that the vote they give on a cross-post doesn't bring any monetary benefits to the author. If they really want to support the author with their upvote they should firstSWITCH TO ORIGINAL POST
and then give an upvote there. In this way, the vote will count both for the curator and the author.
Thanks for your time and support
