I was entirely opposed to this idea of putting a dollar amount on my hour, because I can never compare the value of time to that of money. While lost money can always be compensated, lost time can never be compensated.
I'll ask you a question that would make it crystal clear for you: Would you want to trade places with Warren Buffet, knowing that he's one of the richest men in our world? I don't think so, and the reason why; the man's 95 years old!!
Now, it's so obvious to you how that money is worthless if you don't have enough time.
On the other hand, putting a dollar amount on your hour gives you clarity; let's say I make $100 an hour (hypothetically), would it make sense to spend 2 hours fixing my car if I can get it fixed for $50? That's only one small side of it.
What's most important is; sometimes we find ourselves wasting time easily but paying much attention while spending money, and while time is clearly much more important, sometimes we need a quantifiable unit to measure.
If I ask you; are you okay with wasting 2 hours? You might say you're not, but the truth is you do it every single day, let's be honest about it! But, if I ask you; are you okay with losing $200 without any value in exchange? No, it becomes a serious matter to you!
It just gives you context, and if you equate wasting 3 hours on Tiktok to losing $300, you would never use that app ever again!
Putting a dollar amount on my hour has helped me become even more aware of the value of time, and become wiser spending my time. This is something I think you should try because it's absolutely revolutionary!
