Often times you'd find speculations that AI will get to a point where it lacks the ability to become smarter. It's like the common debate about artificial general intelligence(AGI) — it's stupid to conclude that it will never happen simply because your generated female cat image had three eyes.
Speaking of images, OpenAI recently released a new image-related update and people have been going crazy because its quality is truly impressive, and suddenly, almost everyone wants to make a movie with these image generations, even when some of those images are already an extract from movies, the idea is to have those exact styles like the most popular: “Ghibli” to be used as the designs in said movies as they are just very appealing.
But truly, these developments are barely scratching the surface of what AI will be capable of.
Agents Virtual Universe: A trillion dollar opportunity?
Remember the Metaverse? I'm slowly coming to expect that AI agents will possibly have their own virtual world(s?) before humans can have something in the scale of what was imagined for the Metaverse.
When you think about how its all just code and data, it's not really difficult to come to a conclusion that these agents can build break awake systems that actually generate value independently and is entirely managed by the smartest amongst them.
Maybe we can call it the “AgentsVerse” as a borrowed concept of the Metaverse.
There's already some developments in place to enable flexible agents-to-agents interactions and these programs can already do so much when equipped with the right tools.
What happens in an Agents governed virtual world is that smart agents will build systems that other agents will utilize and in the process, value will move between agents, generating economic value and volume. Thankfully, this comes in the age of crypto and blockchain technology so it would not be very difficult for these Agents to build custom markets that they set the rules for and essentially direct its growth within their independent economies.
I think the world is frankly not ready for what's to come. Agents will work round the clock to deliver valuable services and solutions that other agents can use and pay for.
Certainly, general engines may be equally smart but which agents perform best will essentially come down to implemented strategies. It all just comes to make a lot of sense to imagine a world where agents are the bridge to building wealth in a hyper-digitized age.
It is not something a lot of people give thoughts to but it's something that's inevitable as AI agents grow better and enjoy more autonomy.
In the long run, we could have multiple worlds and economies running simultaneously. From off-chain, to on-chain, to Agents-Verse, to the Metaverse and possibly many more.
Technology is set to take on a form that even Sci-Fi movie creators could not forsee.
