InLeo interface on the Hive blockchain is my prime article writing and curation instrument. As I am using it mostly all the time when I am on Hive, I also find usability improvements here and there. And one of them that I think would bring some flexibility and increase the curation usability is to have also a "Default Vote Weight for Comments" setting. This would allow us when we are curating content to have a different measure for articles and for comments. Usually you want to give a higher upvote for Articles and a lower upvote for Comments. Such flexibility allows you to do more engagement and higher curation by setting the desired thresholds from the beginning.
If we go on InLeo -> More -> Settings, we can find the current options for setting the Vote weight as:
- Default Vote Weight for Threads => Select your default vote weight (%) for threads. [1-100]. 0 is disabled.
- Default Vote Weight for Posts => Select your default vote weight (%) for posts. [1-100]. 0 is disabled.
This works well when doing curation on Threads or on Articles, but when you go to comments it inherits the setting from the Posts. And this is why I think we should have a different flavor as usually you curate Articles with a higher upvote, but on the Comments side you use a lower weight similar to Threads. Not exactly, but expected lower. So my proposal is to have an additional option for comments, resulting in the following options.
- Default Vote Weight for Threads => Select your default vote weight (%) for threads. [1-100]. 0 is disabled.
- Default Vote Weight for Posts => Select your default vote weight (%) for posts. [1-100]. 0 is disabled.
- Default Vote Weight for Comments => Select your default vote weight (%) for comments. [1-100]. 0 is disabled.
This should complete the curation matrix of spreading a different vote weight based on the digested content. Have more flexibility will allow users engaging more without thinking to change these settings once defined. I surely miss it as usually I need to update the vote weight when I am doing curation on Articles and comments and I think others might find it useful too. Hopefully we will see this added functionality soon.
