People from @fullalt just added new options to their Hive tips app. Hive tips were interesting, but i seen it more as a "marketing" tool than tipping tool. Because i am not sure how many people that are not on hive have registered and claimed the tips.
But Hive Patron is totally different story. The option for creators to set up the account and be able get monthly "tips" from their followers with no one taking % of the tips, and all done automatically. And most important, there is real option for micro transactions.
You can't really tip 0.10$ people in fiat, i mean maybe you can but the cost of the transaction would cost more. I am not sure where is the limit when transactions are economically justified as i am from a country where cards got into real usage only few years ago (they were here for years, people just used cash), and my only use of cards was for buying online outside the country, but i am sure that sending 10 cents or 5 cents would not be justifiable.
But with Hive and Hive patron you can tip with 0.01$ with no transaction fees (you would need RC, but if you only use it for patron you could do it with 30-50 Hive (currently it is 8$). I would probably never send anyone a tip in fiat for 10-15$ as that is more than half of average daily earnings in my country, but i am sure i would spend 10$ a month to send tips to 30-40 creators that i enjoy to watch.
And you would think 0.25$ is nothing. But if you have 6000 people watching your videos or consuming your content, and only 1/3 decide to support you with 0.25$, that is 500$. And there are a lot of people on youtube, twich or wherever that have over 100.000 followers, over 1mill. If only 2% from that mill followers decides to support you, that is 5000$. And you have an option to say to your followers, If you like what i am doing, you can support me with 10 cents a month.
Don't you think that this should be HUGE? Don't you think that this should be explained everyone and everywhere?
One think i seen and like in the app (did not test it yet) is that you set up your tips in $ and current price of Hive is used when sending tips. So you don't have to worry about that when price of Hive goes up.
There is need to find solutions for some things, as registration, and will people really try to understand all the keys and how to use them, but it is more easier every day. There is also the obstacle of how easy is to buy hive. But the option of free micro transactions in real time is really a great thing.
