HivePowerBDay A Look Back and To The Future
Today Hive turns three and with that gives me the chance to look back at all that has happened in just three years. This initiative was started by @thecallmedan who has been a strong figurehead for hive and what it could and should be. He's helped create powerful applications that run on hive such as 3speak which many use and love. It opened the gates for what is possible outside of just writing blog posts and very well could have sparked all the new growth we have seen on hive in terms of applications. He also has a game under development which I believe we should see later this year on the hive blockchain!
First the power up for today. While not huge it's because I'm constantly powering up hive. I do it about 5 times a day and ranges from author rewards, trading etc. Yeah it's a bit of a mess and I should only do it once a day but every bit I don't power up doesn't earn me anything lol It's a bad habit I guess lol
The Start
My days started out on steem and at the time when all that chaos went down I honestly wrote steem/hive off as I was in the middle of building my business. I figured it was just another lost investment in crypto to be totally honest with you and I treated it as such.
At the time I had invested a decent amount of capital into steem/hive and with the long bear market still unfolding at the time it felt like a crushing blow. No one likes to dump $1.20 into a token and see it plummet to $0.10 so you really have to understand the mindset during those times.
I also invested a ton into Splinterlands at the time maxing out a beta deck and also buying into the kickstarter to release my own water summoner who you may know as Valnamor. Back then it was fun and a way to support a game and blockchain I believed in would be the future.
It wasn't until a year later that I finally dove in and started to learn and understand how hive came to be and at that point I started to jump in and really take it seriously.
Growth
After I realized what hive was and could be I started to put the wheels into motion. I took my years of marketing background and investing and start to apply it to crypto and hive. Hive was quickly becoming one of my focal points. At the time I had roughly 40k hive and since then have grown it to nearly 100k what it is today. While still a small number compared to some it's one I firmly believe will only be increasing in pace through over investments supporting it.
This "growth" project which started with simply posting and commenting on others posts took some major work and time but I knew the long game would be to show my renewed commitment to hive and the vision of hive. Sure, there would be some that would write me off because of my spammy actions back in the day but like I said the start of this and the mindset I was in gives an idea of why my actions were like that at the time.
From there I expanded into taking my marketing background and start to build lead captures and spread articles to collect leads through SEO. This was generating around 1 new lead a day and pushed through a series of onboarding emails for both LeoFinance and CubDeFi. While these are still running the leads have fallen over the year but it is something I'm currently revamping and getting ready to push again.
Today
Fast forward to right now today I've been a part of supporting a number of tokens over the last two years. From the early stages of BRO token, Oneup aka Cartel, games like Muterra, Splinterlands, PysperX and more , 3speak etc. My primary focuses for right now are as follows.
Onboarding new people to Hive. Through my business I work with a number of "Content Creators" of which I on board on to hive and show them how to use it for social media aspects and be rewarded for it. While this has gone well and there's been a number of smaller end partnerships and overall growth and activity from them the bear market for sure didn't help. None the less I still see this is a powerful way to continue to grow hive and something I will continue to do. This ranges from music, writers, streamers and more.
Build up a sizable fund not only here on Hive but other blockchains which generates enough passive income to support myself fully and also support a developer or two to start building projects on hive. This fund will also be used to support existing projects being built on the hive blockchain and any new ones that come on board.
The Future
Hive is pretty much a focal point for me now and while I can't bring myself to dump all my eggs into one basket it for sure is one of the highest time investment areas. I believe hive has a lot going for it and hope to see a number of these projects start taking shape and getting released soon.
