There is something called as marginal tax relief. So even if you earn slightly more than 12 lakh, you are not impacted greatly.
All this tax slabs change is to increase domestic consumption. With rupee depreciating against dollar, FIIs are soaking out their investments. So domestic consumption has to increase to keep the economy in action.
