Elon Musk has come under pressure from the European Commission to assist in censoring "misinformation" on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
Musk posted yesterday that the company had refused a deal to either allow secret content moderation, or face financial penalties.

Free Speech In Jeopardy
Musk purchased Twitter back in 2022 for $44 billion dollars when it became clear that censorship had become widespread on the platform.
After the acquisition, the company revealed that Twitter had been collaborating with governments to censor information, especially related to Covid and the mRNA jab.
The European Commission's secret deal offered to X prompted some organizations to rally behind Musk in support of global free speech.
For example, the "Censorship Industrial Complex" started to accept financial donations to support the cause.

While this is good news, we have to remain cognizant of the that fact that not only can "misinformation" be censored on social media platforms, but donations made through the traditional banking system can also be censored.
By only accepting donations through the traditional banking system, you put your organization at risk of having its funds frozen.
Canadian Trucker Protest
In addition to vulnerable organizations, an increasing number of individuals are coming to realize that their funds are no longer safe in the traditional banking system.
The government's ability to censor financial transactions became clear when individuals linked to the 2022 trucker protest in Canada had their bank accounts frozen for speaking out against the mandated mRNA shots.
Nigel Farage De-Banked
About a year later, Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage had his account with the private bank Coutts closed for political reasons.
It makes you wonder, how much longer will it be until other political leaders are cut off from the banking system if they refuse to fall in line with the certain policies?
Andrew Tate "Done With The Banks"
Then in 2024, the outspoken Andrew Tate complained on X about the fiat banking system too, and claimed he would move 100 million dollars worth of his net worth into Bitcoin.

We have to assume that ever more influential people will be making similar moves in the near future.
Crypto Adoption
Resistance to the heigtened censorship is only going to grow in the coming years, which will push ever more people into censorship-resistant web3 and cryptocurrency.
