Hello Hivers,
A few days ago, on 2/1/22, I attempted to send 700 DOGE from my broker to my hive wallet, via simpleswap. (which is built into the hive wallet)
I got too anxious and made the mistake of adding a my own little note in the memo field that I should've left blank..
The memo section is for special notes like exchange ID's and such. Putting anything other than what the crypto's recipient instructs you to put here is asking for your transaction to NOT find it's way to it's intended destination.
I knew I goofed up the transaction after it had been over an hour and no HIVE ever made it to my wallet. :(
I waited/brooded on it but ultimately figured I had just lost my 700 DOGE. As a small hope-filled last ditch attempt, I emailed simpleswap support at
support@simpleswap.io
I asked them what would happen to a failed transaction.. would it get returned to my broker? or is there some way to fix it?
The friendly support person asked for my transaction hash which is a unique # the blockchain uses. I sent them a snap of my broker's record.
I was happily surprised when they emailed me back within minutes just saying
All I had to do was say Yes, please send my HIVE to my hive wallet.
:) and that was that. about an hour later..
I immediately powered up..
LESSON LEARNED: Only put the info exactly as stated by simpleswap or whoever is the intended receiver or any need network info, etc. Keep it clean.
