Today I wanted to appreciate hitting a nice little milestone for post, comment and curation reward payout: 20k Hive Power!
4x Dolphin Payouts Milestone
Now I know it's not exactly 4x dolphin status, as dolphin is about 5,600 Hive Power these days give or take a few dozen Hive Power but it's pretty darn close! I don't check the Hive Buzz notifications often, as it's largely things that don't mind me too much like distributing 150k votes or receiving 3,000 replies or whatever. They are cool stats overall but not something I'm chasing all the time.
If I get a notification from Hive Buzz on a post that others have commented on, while I'm scrolling through the post to reply to comments I will check out what I achieved there and I was pleasantly surprised at this one! I've earned 20,000 Hive Power as payout for my posts, comment rewards and curation rewards combined! Damn that's a crazy milestone for me!
I remember not too long ago aiming to achieve 20,000 Hive Power as my goal for the year 2 years ago and I luckily achieved that, and now we are here 2.5 years later and I've received 20,000 Hive Power overall as my payout for the various rewards I've generated. That's insane! What that also means is that I'm sitting at around 30.8k Hive Power as of the writing of this post, so I also powered up over the time I've been on the (Steem) Hive Blockchain about 11k Hive Power! That's a little over 50% of my rewards which is wild. I know not all of it has come from exchanging my HBD for Hive and powering it up, I was able to generate a few thousand Hive from selling various things over time but I sure as shit powered that stuff up!
What has been really a fun thing for me over this whole time is the increased ability that I have to distribute votes and rewards to folks out there, without going crazy at dropping my voting power or strength. Keeping my votes at 10-15% and distributing them all over the place has been pretty darn cool, and as time goes on the strength of that fluctuates in value of course, but it's usually around .05$ for that vote which isn't bad at just dropping 10%! Quite a large number of people are doing that at 100% so I know I'm certainly lucky and fortunate to have accumulated a pretty decent stake up to this point that I use to hook other people up with some rewards.
A nice thing over that timeframe as well is that the rewards have increased at a bit of a faster rate than before and that's largely due to the curation rewards. I'm averaging 7 Hive Power per day in curation rewards these days which is phenomenal to me, I remember when I was excited to earn 2 a day. Seeing it up to 7 and slowly increasing over time is wild! I know that eventually it will get to 10, which is a personal milestone for me, and I can imagine how quicker things will go at that point. At 10 Hive Power per day, 365 days a year, that's 3.65k a year in just curation rewards, not considering rewards on posts or even the inflation that Hive has right now.
At the ~7 HP per day that I'm getting, I've been incredibly fortunate to round out the last 30 days with 213 HP in total curation rewards, nearly making it to 550 HP for the timeframe. I know that some may not really care but for me those are some pretty wild numbers.
I still have screenshots of my account in the very early days of when I started on this blockchain back in 2018, where I was at literally 0.01 Hive Power (called Steem power at the time) and my account was worth 0$ lol. I was just planning on getting a few hundred Hive here and there and seeing what I could do with it. Luckily I fell in love with the platform and the people and decided that this was going to be not only an investment for me but for the people around me. When we all grow together, we all prosper together and I'm a big proponent of generosity being spread around to the folks around. I think it's also important for me that I've never powered down any of the Hive that I've accumulated, other than when we switched platforms after the hard fork but that was powering down the old stuff in favor of the new.
It's going to be fun to think of what things will look like for me in another 10,000 Hive Power for my post, comment and curation reward payout. That would mean I would be somewhere over 40,000 Hive Power staked to my account! Damn that's wild to think about, hell even 30,000 is wild to think about when I reflect on my time here lol. I remember seeing people with 30k Hive Power and thinking "damn, that's so much!!! I will take forever to get there!~" and here I am, a few lucky swaps and things later, celebrating such a milestone. Fun times, and I know we all appreciate growing together!
