Technology as we know advances in all directions and at an incredible speed. Imagining what it will be like 5 or 10 years from now becomes interesting and at the same time challenging because perhaps the things we know today may not even exist anymore, either because they are old-fashioned or simply disappear with time.
One of the companies that is less known to Elon Musk is Neuralink, which started to be known in the world around 2018. Its main objective is to connect the human brain to machines. At the time it was just information about what the company wanted to achieve, but recently the prototype of what will be developed was presented.
Musk recently revealed via Twitter that on August 28 we will have news on Neuralink's progress and from what I researched the last official announcement was a year ago. What is known so far is that the company intends to develop interfaces between human brains and computers in the form of an implant.
First impressions may even scare some people into thinking that "Skynet" may arise, but the idea that humans and machines can be connected through a symbiosis I find very interesting. Imagine people with neurological problems who can't move their muscles? Initially, this was one of the ideas for Neuralink and I hope they continue to do so.
According to a company executive, the proposal is to make the brain connect not directly with a machine, but be connected to an artificial intelligence. It has also been said that tests have been successful with rats and that it could soon be performed on humans.
If all is accomplished, we will have one of the greatest developments in human history. Making a neural link with AI will be a major step forward and this technology is sure to benefit many people with neural disorders.
