My son asked me if I had used AI to write a post yet and told him it is so wrong on so many levels and refuse to even consider this as an option.
With the Artificial Intelligence now having crept into the Hive eco system via various users thinking it is a cool way to earn quick rewards there are so many reasons why I am dead against this. I am more than happy to see downvotes appearing and will be adding my down vote to the party when required.
Being involved on Hive and being able to earn via posting is a privilege as the majority in the world don't even know of our existence. Hive is a social platform where we can not only post our thoughts and ideas, but engage with others through commentary via replies and comments.
Now if everyone decided to go the AI route where would that leave Hive as a community? Who would honestly care what is posted as none of it would be real and most definitely there would be nothing "personal" which is the key word here.
We are all humans and have a uniqueness about how we think and do things (most of us) which is what makes our posts personal. The time and effort taken to create a post has our character embedded in the words whether we like it or not. Everyone whether we like it or not has a certain characteristic of how they communicate their ideas in words and this is what makes it appealing.
Many come from other countries where English is not their first or even second language but we all see past that and what makes these posts even more special. The spelling mistakes or the wrong tenses used doesn't matter as we see past that and place ourselves in the authors situation. These posts actually mean more to me when I see how someone is struggling away learning a new language as this is 3 times as hard as those who are English speakers.
These days we have the translation tools and vocab/grammar correctors which is fine but there is no excuse to tap into AI to improve what you have already written or what you have not written. The personality and uniqueness of the individual disappears and that is vitally important to keep as this is what makes Hive so special.
AI being used to do a job or solve a problem is what it is designed to do and yes it could create Hive posts at the click of a button. How much effort is that as this is cheating and there is no other word for this as you may as well copy paste from an article you found. The work you are offering up as your own is not your own and therefore doesn't deserve to be rewarded.
The community and individuals in the community like you and I are what is important and not how good your posts are, but the effort made in creating them is appreciated. Most of us support individuals not necessarily for the work they create, but the work they do as we have got to know and love them for who they are through engaging over the years. Life long friendships have been created online and possibly filtered into real life as this is a close community we have built and refuse to let AI wreck what we have here for certain individuals trying to short cut the system.
Hive is a place of enjoyment and one must not see this as work even if it is sometimes difficult. Where is the fun when using AI as maybe Hive is not for you if you have contemplated this route.
