Xenophobia has already had a chequered history in South Africa and if nothing changes and is left to bubble away this will happen again and again. I can see this happening in Europe as what is happening cannot continue. Common sense tells you there is trouble ahead and there is uprisings coming on a scale we have never seen before. One would have to be blind to think otherwise and think this situation can be resolved by other means besides violence.
Over the last few months in South Africa we have seen the tide firmly swinging to anti immigration and you cannot blame the people especially when over 60% are unemployed. I am with them on this one as having open borders is utter madness and it impacts everyone. The rest of the world especially Europe is going through this madness as well and the tide has to turn or this is going to get very nasty. I see it happening here if the job market does not improve because the locals have had enough and they will start taking the law into their own hands.
The latest is vigilante groups are now stopping foreign nationals/ illegals and those on visas from receiving medical care. The staff in the government run hospitals are backing those enforcing the no foreigners may enter policy and again how can you blame the locals. The police are not preventing this from happening as I expect they also feel the same way.
A report published a few months back showed that 70% of the people attending the hospitals and clinics were foreigners and this has created a system that cannot cope with the influx of new people. The foreigners are being told to attend private hospitals if they need medical assistance or return home wherever they came from. They have no jobs so no way of paying for private medical care so they have no other choice but to leave.
I saw a video on x today showing a couple hoping to get a bed due to the wife being ready to give birth and they were removed from the premises. The locals are not happy and the argument is how anyone can be having children when not knowing what you future is and they need to learn. This may seem harsh, but the locals are adamant they need to do this and in some ways are being forced to as the government is not helping. I do get the point as firstly there are no jobs so how are you going to look after the kids needs if you need medical attention. This again is the thinking that they will rely on state support using up more resources. If you remove the state hospitals and clinics then the foreigners will have no choice, but to return to the country they travelled from and is the thinking of the groups protecting the hospitals.
You have to ask why anyone who is an illegal or on a visa and has a baby then there is something seriously wrong. Maybe they feel comfortable enough to have children and believe that the state will look after their needs. This is worrying and shows you the level of intelligence these people have to think this is ok. If I emigrate to another country I have to have private medical before I am allowed in proving I will not be using the local resources.
Another hammer blow this week with regard to illegals is with regard to employment as a law was introduced saying a employee even if employed illegally has the same rights as any other worker. There may have been some businesses employing foreigners without work permits who are now saying to themselves they have to get rid of them and quickly. Just having a quick look at advertised jobs this afternoon and 99% specify SA citizens only which has to be a good thing and what is right.
Those that think this may be a little extreme what is happening here have to understand that the country has been flooded with illegal migrants and no one knows how many as it is uncontrolled. The government would like to tell you this is only a few million people, but realistically the number is somewhere between 10 and 15 million which is the problem. These illegals and those on visas have been trying to find work when there is no work and why the locals blame the foreigners for why they have no work.
