Over the last 6 months I have been trying to tie down a certain screen printer to do a job for us with regard to the punch bags. This screen printer has done jobs for one of our competitors in the past and was recommended to me by a close friend. He had taken on a big job and has been unable to help thus far and up till last week was still too busy to assist.
Last week when I went to collect the rugby tickets offered on our community WhatsApp security group the person selling the tickets happens to be involved in screen printing. You often hear the saying it was meant to be and in this case looks like it. I have a habit of when meeting someone finding out what they do as you just never know if you can help them or they can help you.
After hearing he was a screen printer I mentioned the problem of getting the punch bags branded and he said I should drop off a few samples so he would have a look. The next day he phoned and he had completed both samples and mentioned that he could get them done with no problems.
I have not mentioned numbers or prices yet which now needs to be negotiated and is the easy part. We have roughly 800 bags that need to be double branded and I would imagine this gut will come in way cheaper than the first company I was waiting on for over 6 months.
All that needs to happen now is to get both bags filled with filler and send them off to the buyers to make sure they are happy with the quality of the art work. I cannot ell the difference and believe there is not going to be a problem. Life is sometimes strange how things work out and I would never have found this guy if I had not responded to him selling a pair of rugby tickets. This is an unexpected lucky break that happens when we least expect it.
This screen printer is about a 100m walk away from my home and he has all the equipment set up in his house. This work from home business is based in a double garage that he has converted and extended and is surprisingly a decent sized space to operate in.
This job he needs to do will most likely be the biggest job he has undertaken for many years and he has no idea the numbers that are involved. I was quoted or given a ball park figure by the company I was trying to get the job done by so I have a figure or an idea of where I do not want to and up at. I am sure we will end up in the middle somewhere and this has to be financially viable for both parties. This for me is the fun part especially when you can calculate the figures in your head whilst keeping a straight face looking the other person in the eye. I know he does not stand a chance and I will look after him as he is helping me out.
He covers any type of branding printing and marketing material so he is a good person to know and who knows if we have a HIVE marketing need in the future he is on the doorstep and I know he would be the cheapest option.
