Today my vote value on Hive ticked over to $0.50 for the first time and is like a mini milestone achieved. Considering Hive is at 15c and not worth that much I am hoping the voting value can only go up from here. Maybe a drop to 45c, but with more staking highly unlikely.
When I started just on 3 years ago all I ever wanted was to have a vote that registered when I voted. Climbing up from the 0.001 vote value to the 0.01 value took months to achieve. Having a value behind your name when you vote and not a dust vote took roughly 4 or 5 months back then and it was really hard work.
50c doesn't sound like much, but in South Africa that is about R8.00 today and x10 per day over a month would earn someone R1200 just from voting posts. Putting that into context here that is about 1 weeks salary of the average worker. This would be enough to transform someones life here not by much, but definitely make a difference.

Queuing for the lock down unemployment grants. We are lucky to have something like Hive as we at least have a back up plan.
During the lock downs the Government was handing out their unemployment payments of R500 per month and people literally queued for days to receive them. R500 is nothing unless you have nothing I suppose and to think my vote would make two and a half people smile and happy is quite scary.
We all know the volatility of crypto and what is possible so a $1 Hive would be nearly 7 x that and R8000 would be like two months salary for many. For us it seems like nothing yet in many places around the world this is a decent income. I would need an extra zero before my ears would prick up, but still it shows what steady growth and consistency can achieve.
For Hive to be valuable to a large proportion of the World population it doesn't need to hit the highs and $1 would change many lives. Yes they would need some stake and possibly a year or two of growth and hard work then they could easily be self sufficient. This is not a huge sacrifice considering what conditions some people survive in already. Poverty and starvation is not something we like to see and considering we are in 2021 this should not be a thing today yet it is. Hive could help conquer many of these issues over time with mass adoption and loads of guidance and education.
