Recently, I begin to realize that the real fun of Hive is in meddling with the data lying within its blockchain.
And I haven't even had my two feet in yet.
I had been using Python to generate some tables with posts that are currently highly voted such as this, or lowly voted such as this.
With the highly voted list, I was hoping to narrow it down to a list of posts that have been well-curated, so that I can read with my coffee in a go.
With the lowly voted list, I was hoping to find the gems within them, so that they can be recognized and not buried by the various default recommender system. They are usually relatively new users and I like to upvote them to encourage them.
I have other plans, but they are currently hampered by my lack of Python skills and understanding of the underlying Hive API. If I have my way, I would do the following:
Create word clouds or some representations to make locating interesting posts within each list easier.
Present more detailed findings based on more data points, say recent posts over a week.
Study the posts and earnings of specific Hivers to learn from them.
In conclusion, I begin to think that the real fun of Hive is actually in studying the data, akin to what data scientists do to data in the real world. What is exciting is that the data is actually in the blockchain, and accesible!
I imagine that if this endeavor is well-accomplished, it is better for the Hive blockchain users as we will all know our Hive better.
My second foot needs to be in! Come onboard too to contribute if you can. This is how we can build, or BULD!
