It seems the hot topic right now is the new number added to our blog page, called the KE or Rewards/Stake Coefficient. This was recently introduced on the PeakD frontend and can be found just below or beside your profile or username.

For now, it's just a number—there isn't much information provided when you hover over it. However, I believe PeakD will soon add an explanation so that those unfamiliar with it can gain a basic understanding.
I’ve come across it a few times, either hearing people talk about it or reading comments that mention it, but I haven’t fully understood what it actually means or how it might impact how people perceive their Hive accounts.
Is it a good thing?
Is it bad?
Is it just a nuisance?
Is it meant to encourage you to stake your Hive?
Or is it not a big deal at all?
I'm honestly not sure, since each of us may interpret this new information differently based on our own experiences with Hive. I'm also a bit puzzled and curious about what others think, which is why I posted a quick snap about it:

I was surprised to see that this snap got more attention and comments than most of my other posts. That’s when I realized just how relevant this topic is right now. Reading through the comments, it became clear that people have mixed reactions. Some are clueless about it, some seem to view it negatively, while others are already offering advice on how to improve your KE score—mainly by staking more Hive.
Although the name Rewards/Stake Coefficient sounds a bit technical, the concept behind it is quite simple:
Just divide the total of your author and curation rewards by your Hive Power.
If you power up (stake) your Hive rewards, the score improves.
On the other hand, if you power down or leave a portion of your rewards in liquid form, the score decreases.
So what’s the ideal or baseline score? I would guess it’s 1.00, which would mean that you've powered up an amount of Hive equivalent to your combined author and curation rewards. A score of 1.00 or lower might suggest that you're a true supporter of the Hive blockchain—but I’m adding a question mark there because I’m not entirely sure if that’s the intended interpretation.
At this point, I’m still unclear on how much of the Hive ecosystem this KE score actually reflects, or whether it’s something we should take seriously. After all, we’ve had the Reputation Score for a long time, and while it’s meant to signal someone’s standing in the community, it’s not always taken seriously because it doesn’t necessarily reflect a person’s actual reputation.
In the end, the KE score is just one of many metrics on the Hive blockchain, and how much weight we give it is up to each of us. Whether you see it as motivation to stake more Hive or simply another number on your profile, it's worth observing how the community responds over time. As with anything new, staying informed and open-minded is the best approach.
