Ted Hui Chi-fung, a former Legislative Councillor who was in exile in the United Kingdom, is wanted by the Hong Kong police.
He claimed that HSBC confirmed this morning (2nd) that the bank had unilaterally decided to cancel his and his family’s HSBC credit card accounts and he criticised the bank for making political decisions on its own.
The practice has no legal basis.
Hui posted on his Facebook page this morning, stating that HSBC Bank confirmed that all HSBC credit cards owned by him and his family were cancelled unilaterally and without notice by the bank. HSBC responded that “This is a commercial decision. If there is a balance in the credit card, it will be deducted from the bank account. On the contrary, if there is a balance, the money may not be refunded.”
