Hive has its gambling apps as well.
They haven’t been very popular on the chain, but overall, that might be a good thing. Occasionally if you want to try your luck and play around a bit, Hive offers you this as well.
Hive is actually a great blockchain for these apps as it offers zero fees for transactions.
In the past years a few of these apps have come and gone but few of them remained and have literally years behind them. Let’s take a look.
The apps that are still around are the following:
There might be some other that I’m not aware of.
The above have developed and updated in the past. New games, new UI, improved tokenomics etc. Epicdice and Kryptogame stands out a bit as they have their own token as well. Users holding the token receive dividends, meaning the earnings are shared with token holders. The tokens are earned while playing in game and they are also traded on Hive-Engine.
The other two games work with a deposit function. First you deposit HIVE on the web and then you are playing along.
Because of the why these games are structured the focus of the data will be in Kryptogamers and Epicdice, while for Hive-Roller and HiveSlotGames I will be mentioning the key data on a yearly basis.
Number Of Players
Let’s take a look at the numbers of players.
Here is the chart
As players are counted accounts that have transferred funds to the app.
Overall, the number of DAUs is quite small for both of the games. At the beginning, back in 2020, Kryptogamers was leading with more than 20 DAUs, while in the last year we can see that both of the apps have very similar numbers in the range of 10 to 15 DAUs.
The monthly chart might show a better perspective.
We can see that Kryptogamers was leading here back in 2021, but in recent times the HiveSlotGames have taken the number one spot or are very close to them. These two apps are in the range of 60 to 100 MAUs.
The Epicdice app has been very constant in its numbers of MAUs, hovering around 40 MAUs.
On a yearly basis the chart for the players looks like this:
The HiveSlotGames comes on the top when we compare the yearly data. More than 300 accounts have deposited to their app. Kryptogamers are following closely with almost 300 players, then Epicdice with close to 100 and the Hive-Roller seems to not have a lot of players.
Dividends Payouts
Next the chart for the dividends payouts on a monthly basis.
I have structure the chart on a monthly level for better understanding. The daily ones are quite irregular.
Also, this chart only covers Kryptogames and Epicdice, because these two have the dividend option only.
Some ups and downs in terms of the dividends payouts to token holders. Both of the apps have good and bad months, and cant really tell which one is better. There is an overall pattern with a downtrend in 2022 and the lowest dividends paid at the end of 2022, basically when the market was in the worst period. In 2023 we can see some growth again for both of the apps.
Overall in 2023, both of these apps are around the same level of dividends paid, with Kryptogamers having 10k HIVE paid until now, while Epicdice around 9k HIVE.
Note that these are only Hive payouts, the apps are distributing Steem payouts as well, although those seems to be very low.
Top Accounts Receiving Dividends In 2023
This should be the accounts that hold most of the tokens, aka top token holders.
Here is the chart for Kryptogamers:
The @ctime account is on the top with 1.5k HIVE received as dividends in 2023, followed by @mmmmkkkk311.
For Epicdice the chart looks like this.
The official account is on the top here with 2.3k HIVE received, followed by @abrockman with 1.2k HIVE.
Token Price
The chart for the GAMER and EPC token price in terms of HIVE looks like this.
The above is a daily average price.
Both of these tokens are very illiquid and have low trading volumes. A small buy or sell orders can push the price and we can see that from the chart above that have a lot of ups and downs.
Both of the tokens seem to be hovering around 0.0001 HIVE price. They have a supply in billions and a very small market cap, so the price is low.
The token issuance for both of the tokens is halved on every 10%, but their needs be some activity in the first place.
Overall, the number of players for the Hive gambling apps is quite low, in the range of few dozen per day and a total of few hundred that have played these apps.
Despite this, these apps have been around for a long time, and they have improved their UI, added new games and overall are quite good apps. Some interesting tokenomics in place as well.
If you want to try your luck, have some fun and gamble some Hive, you have that option on the blockchain. Fast and free transactions. And remember always being responsible when it comes to gambling 😊.
All the best
