Even though a social media blockchain, Hive as its gambling apps as well. It's actually a great blockchain for these apps as it offers zero fees for fast transactions.
In the past years a few of these apps have come and gone but few of them remained and have literally years behind them. Let’s take a look.
The first app of this category was MagicDice. When it started there was no Hive-Engine around, no tokens. Points were earned in the app with nothing but speculative value. Although dividends were paid. That app ended after a few months in not a great way. Some other apps also started and ended.
The ones that remained and are still around are the following:
There might be some other that I’m not aware of.
The apps above have developed and updated in the past. New games, new UI, improved tokenomics etc. Epicdice and Kryptogame have their own token, where the token holders received dividends. These tokens are traded on Hive-Engine. The tokens are earned while playing in game or you can just buy them on the market. The dividends are paid out from the house earrings with share of it is distributed to players. Some interesting tokenomics implemented as daily leaderboard rewards for top players etc.
The Hive-Roller developed by @klye, is a bit different, as it doesn’t have its tokenomics and you deposit funds in the app. But then the app is crazy fast, the fastest from all the above. Also, an interesting thing is the app have Hive Engine tokens integration, so you can bet with your PAL, NEOXAG, BRO and a few others.
The period that we will be looking at is from March 22 to February 15, 2021.
Kryptogames
Lets take a look at the numbers of players and dividend payouts from Kryptogamers.
First the players.
As players are counted accounts that have transferred funds to Kryptogamers.
As we can see the numbers of accounts is around 20 per day. We can notice a small uptrend maybe in the last period. Overall not a lot of accounts playing on a daily level.
In total in the period above 391 account have interacted with the kryptogamers app, transferring around 10M hive back and forward with the account.
Next the chart for the dividends payouts.
Quite an irregular payouts here. Dividends depend on the daily volumes that is happening on the app. Since the number of players is quite small there is a lot of spikes.
In total more than 40k HIVE was paid out to token holders as dividends to 250 accounts.
Note that these are only Hive payouts, the app is distributing Steem payouts as well, although those seems to be very low.
GAMER Token Price
The chart for the GAMER token price in terms of HIVE looks like this.
The above is a daily average prices. The token has shown some growth in price in the last period, reaching a 0.0002 HIVE per token. Should be noted that the volume for the token is extremely low so the price can vary a lot.
Epicdice
The chart for the numbers of players on epicdice looks like this
On average around 10 players interact with the app on a daily level.
In total in the period above 191 account have interacted with the epicdice app. The number of players for epicdice is a bit lower than for kryptogamers.
The chart for the dividends payouts looks like this.
The random spikes in payouts are noticeable here as well. Again because of the small number of players and low volumes.
In total around 26k HIVE was paid out to token holders as dividends.
EPC Token Price
The chart for the EPC token price in terms of HIVE looks like this.
Quite a steady price for the token in all the period with some slow up trend. Here as well the volume for the token is quite low.
Hive-Roller
Hive-roller.com doesn’t operate on the same principles as the two above, as it doesn’t have a token that pays out dividends. As already mentioned it works with deposited funds, but the in game play then is very fast. It also accept some of the Hive engine tokens.
In terms of accounts a total of 137 sent funds to Hive-roller.com in the period. So more than 100 accounts have played with the app.
Overall, the number of players for the Hive gambling apps is quite low, in the range of few dozen per day and a total of few hundred that have played these apps. Despite this, these apps have been around for a long time and they have improved their UI, that are quite nice now. Some interesting tokenomics in place as well. The Hive blockchain offers free and fast transactions that these apps are leveraging and can do the same in the future. Who knows maybe at some point these apps will gain more traction. Meanwhile if you want to try your luck, have some fun and gamble some Hive you have that option on the blockchain. Fast and free transactions. And remember always be responsible when it comes to gambling 😊.
All the best
