A month ago I wrote a post on the Top Payed Steem Authors looking at the top payed Steem authors. But this only shows a part of the picture since author rewards are around 40% of the inflation (reward pool).
Here we will be looking at the overall inflation distribution, meaning looking at the authors, curators, witnesses and DAO rewards.
Hf21/22 happened back in September 2019, and since then we have a bit more honest on Steem. Looking at the top payed authors should give us some idea. Before that, it was all about bots.
The EIP happened as well with 50/50 split in the authors/curators share. DAO also was introduced taking a 10% share from the inflation.
The inflation now goes as follows:
- Authors 40%
- Curators 40%
- Witnesses 10%
- DAO 10%
We will look at the numbers for Steem distributed for each category, the top earners of the categories and a compiled data for the overall top earners on Steem.
Overall STEEM Distribution
Here is the overall STEEM distribution by categories.
The data presented here will be for the period between 10.01.2020 till 09.02.2020.

A total of 2.1 million STEEM equivalent was distributed in the period, out of which authors and curators got around 800k STEEM each, and witnesses and the @steem.dao got around 250k each.
Interesting a lot of the Steem payouts happens in SP, non-liquid. The liquid payments are only 30% share, out of which the DAO takes a large share.

If we take a look at the top earners, we can notice that not a lot of authors are in the top. The no.1 is a curation account, @blocktrades is a combination of witness and curation, @sbdpotato and @howo are Steem.DAO workers, and some more curators and witnesses on the top as well.
