I started with the SSC (Saturday Savers Club) early this year I think. But then life happened and I veered off. I was very ashamed to even write a post into this because I felt really disappointed in myself. I wasn’t able to show much progress because there wasn’t that much progress. But thanks to @coquicoin who really inspired me to get back to it.
For those who do not know, The Saturday Savers Club, simply put, is a group of people who save in both crypto or fiat and then give progress reports. Accountability! I was a part of this but then, as @tengolotodo pointed out, I undermined how much progress I made.
I remember writing in this post that my primary goals was to grow my HP to a certain value and my secondary goal was to save enough HBD to leave where I’m currently staying because rumors have it that it has been sold and also, school projects have been demanding too. I even started to power down because I really needed the money.
The power Down money was first used to settle certain school stuff and then home stuff and then finally, I decided it was time to get a better phone. I used a phone that I had gotten in 2020. Tecno.
It was 1GB RAM and so it was frustrating. Lucky for me, I had a laptop that enabled me do the things I couldn’t. But then Laptop developed a problem too and it got worse. It was a headache writing anything or trying to even be on discord. The Camera quality was so poor that I’d rather not use it.
When I finally resolved to power down, after much contemplation, I decided to just get a phone with it. The end result? I got the phone.
However, it wasn’t easy too. I needed to be disciplined and not touch a single penny of the liquid. It was tough especially when things seemed to go incredibly wrong at that moment. I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve cried during those tough moments. But Eddie, my number one encourager and fan was always there. In my DM. Poking me to leave my shell and get up too. When I gave him the details of the progress I made his reaction was, “WOW!”. And then he scolded me for looking down on such a milestone and then taught me something in the process like he always does.
Also special thanks to @monica-ene who helped me with a Hive Loan. Hahahaha. First ever loan I’ve taken and it was on and with Hive. Of course I’ll pay back.
Now that I’m back to writing about my savings again, what am I saving for? Nothing has changed. We are leaving this place by the end of this year hopefully and also, finishing touches need to be added to my projects. Compared to when I started, I have 115 Hive and 96 HBD in savings.
As for my layer-two tokens, I may need to stack up especially now that I’ve been educated by the HN MODs on their value and necessity.
Also, I have it as a goal to move our business into a stall. Mom sells Akara (bean cakes) in an open space. That will change.
The process is slow and steady. I’ve not been meeting the a-penny-a-day quota but I’ll still save as much as I can. I am not sure what will turn out at the end of the year but I’m not giving up. I may have been stagnant with my Leo account too but I’m trying to figure out a system that’ll work best for me just like the other communities.
In conclusion, I am not where I was and that’s so much to be grateful for. And before I go, Happy Hive Power Up Day!
