I am 17 hours away from my first Steem power down since I created my account. I always said I would never power down. It's bittersweet, I kind of feel sad. I'm sure once I turn the Steem into Hive and Leo. I will feel better about it all. Then in just a few more weeks it will be all over. I can just let Steem go.
I've always though don't keep all your eggs in one basket was sound advice. Sometimes you can have just too many baskets though. Since coming back into the crypto world, I've had to find my coins scattered about. Hidden in binary cubby holes. I have found a good portion, having to update blockchains to see my coin count or transfer them has been not so much fun. Seeing that I had coins in Cryptopia and lost it to the 'don't keep your coins in an exchange game.'. I maybe went overboard on the baskets, and I'm going to be looking for some of them for a while. So while it's not a good idea to keep all your eggs in one basket, don't squirrel away more baskets than you can remember.
I made lots of mistakes my first time investing in crypto. I got in early enough that those mistakes didn't cost me anything financially. I'm still up even. I just focused too much on the shiny new things everyone was pointing at. I don't plan on doing that this time around. Live and learn. I'm sure I will find some other mistakes to make though. This is crypto.
