Buenos días estimadas señoritas y señoritos lectores. Vuelvo a Leofinance con un tema que me ha estado afectando mucho últimamente, y en lo que a mi respecta, afecta a todos aquellos que practican el trading, la desconfianza en los criptoactivos.
Distrust in finance is as dangerous as a mob running wild in the street.
Good morning dear ladies and gentlemen readers. I return to Leofinance with a topic that has been affecting me a lot lately, and as far as I am concerned, it affects all those who practice trading, the distrust in criptoassets.
La desconfianza
Debo admitir que para el poco tiempo que llevo inmerso en los criptoactivos y mi poca experiencia haciendo trading, no hubo otra cosa que sintiera más que la incertidumbre en los mismos. Esta incertidumbre se fundamenta en la confianza que tienen los inversores (sean ballenas o no) sobre las criptos, ya que eso determinará el valor de la misma.
The Distrust
I must admit that for the short time I have been immersed in cryptoassets and my little experience doing trading, there was nothing else I felt more than uncertainty in cryptoassets. This uncertainty is rooted in the confidence investors (whales or not) have about cryptos, as that will determine the value of it.
Debido que los mercados se manejan por la ley de la oferta y la demanda, el valor de una criptomoneda se fija por la cantidad de gente que quiere comprarla y por lo que están dispuesto a pagar, y la cantidad de gente que quiere venderlas y el precio al que la venden. Entonces ¿qué es lo que decide la compra de un activo? la promesa de rentabilidad y recuperación de la inversión con una liquidez aceptable y bien respaldada.
Because markets are driven by the law of supply and demand, the value of a cryptocurrency is set by the number of people who want to buy it and what they are willing to pay, and the number of people who want to sell it and the price at which they sell it. So what is it that decides the purchase of an asset? The promise of profitability and return on investment with acceptable and well-backed liquidity.
Esto genera confianza, un factor super importante para determinar el comportamiento de un activo a largo plazo. En el caso de la blockchain Hive la confianza en esta se basa en su funcionamiento y en que siempre va a haber una demanda, y según como yo lo veo, el factor social que esta implica implanta en cada uno de nosotros un cariño extraño hacia la misma, que en los momentos difíciles se interpreta como una tranquilidad y una fe particular. Cuando el Hive baja no es una crisis, sino una oportunidad de aumentar nuestro poder de voto.
This generates trust, a super important factor in determining the behavior of an asset in the long term. In the case of the Hive blockchain, trust in it is based on how it works and that there will always be a demand, and as I see it, the social factor that it implies implants in each of us a strange affection for it, which in difficult times is interpreted as a particular tranquility and faith. When the Hive is down, it is not a crisis, but an opportunity to increase our voting power.
Las Consecuencias
Como tal, solo hay una consecuencia directa de la desconfianza general sobre un activo:la pérdida de tu inversión, que esto sea un disparador de la desestabilización de una economía es otra cosa. Me da risa como se define en valor de los activos y el círculo vicioso del que pueden ser parte, incitando a subir o bajar el valor de la misma casi que por capricho.
The Consecuences
As such, there is only one direct consequence of general distrust of an asset: the loss of your investment, whether this is a trigger for the destabilization of an economy is another matter. It makes me laugh how the value of assets is defined and the vicious circle they can be part of, inciting the value of the asset to go up or down almost on a whim.
Me explico: escuchas una buena noticia en relación a una cripto y piensas que su valor subirá, al igual que otros millones de personas compras la cripto y efectivamente su valor sube, la noticia resultó ser pura especulación y todo sale mal, millones de personas venden la moneda y su precio baja, Así de sencillo. Lo curioso es que si todos empiezan a comprar una cripto sin una razón en particular, su valor igual subirá, pero la noticia genera la confianza y la coordinación para que todos empiecen a comprarla al mismo tiempo, cumpliendo así la creencia autoprofesada de que la moneda aumentará su valor.
Let me explain: you hear good news about a cryptocurrency and you think its value will go up, like millions of other people you buy the cryptocurrency and indeed its value goes up, the news turned out to be pure speculation and everything goes wrong, millions of people sell the coin and its price goes down, it's as simple as that. The funny thing is that if everyone starts buying a crypto without a particular reason, its value will still go up, but the news generates the confidence and coordination for everyone to start buying it at the same time, thus fulfilling the self-professed belief that the currency will increase its value.

Un Ejemplo
El 12 de mayo de 2021, Elon Musk publicó un twitter en el que exponía que ya no se estaría aceptando más Bitcoins en la compra del vehículo eléctrico "Tesla", si no se usaban energías renovables y limpias para su minado. Esto generó una caída de más del 10% del precio del mismo, con un solo tweet. El portal BBC News Mundo indica que:
"Los analistas del mercado ven la decisión como un intento de Tesla de calmar las preocupaciones de inversores que están centrados en el cambio climático y la sostenibilidad."
Por otro lado, en una entrevista realizada por este mismo portal a Julia Lee de Burman Invest, se indica que:
"... alguien cínico podría sugerir que esto es simplemente otra jugada de Elon Musk para influir en el mercado de las criptomonedas, como lo ha hecho en otras tantas ocasiones."
Por lo que esto solo confirma lo delicada e importante que puede llegar a ser la confianza en un activo.
An Example
On May 12, 2021, Elon Musk published a tweet in which he stated that Bitcoins would no longer be accepted for the purchase of the electric vehicle "Tesla", if renewable and clean energies were not used for its mining. This generated a drop of more than 10% in the price of the same, with a single tweet. The BBC News Mundo portal indicates that:
"Market analysts see the decision as an attempt by Tesla to calm the concerns of investors who are focused on climate change and sustainability."
On the other hand, in an interview conducted by this same portal to Julia Lee of Burman Invest, it is indicated that:
"... someone cynical might suggest that this is simply another move by Elon Musk to influence the cryptocurrency market, as he has done on so many other occasions."
So this just confirms how delicate and important trust in an asset can become.
