In the conversation that took place among Cryptoholics last week, many interesting topics were developed. It is certainly a space, which addresses many current issues along with the comfort of a few that beer always offers.
There was a lot of talk about Elon Musk the CEO of Tesla, X (formerly Twitter), and SpaceX, a tycoon who seems to like to be in the minds of others, they talked about quantum computing and how it can breach our computer security, also Changpeng Zhao (Ex Ceo of Binance) Aliens can never miss when alcohol is present, conspiracy theories, Stonehenge, the pyramids ... It was a very crazy program jajaj.
But, among so many good topics, I think that the topic of Elon Musk telling many of his former advertisers to go fuck themselves is too attractive to pass up.
After some of X's major advertisers, decided to pause relations with X's social network. Musk's discontent was quite visceral. In an interview hosted by The New York Times.
Some of the companies that left him were IBM, NBC Universal, Apple, Disney Coca-Cola. And, all this because of something that one could not tell if it is his strength or his greatest weakness, his unfiltered comments. Exactly when he made comments considered anti-Semitic recently. From what I see this is not the first time he has made such comments. These, added to the recent tension between the Arab states and Israel, is something very hard to let pass or at least consider as a joke.
I guess, not many would react as Musk did, who without thinking much about it, told those advertisers who abandoned him in the middle of an interview to go fuck themselves. Even when many CEOs or company directors screw up, they try not to let it go any further than that and avoid making any more trouble or at least try to keep their allies as comfortable as possible. But, not many are in a position like Elon Musk.
I wonder what it would feel like to be so arrogant? To do things the way he has been doing, means he knows his landscape and the consequences of his actions very well. He is undoubtedly a very smart character, who has been able to navigate the barriers and seize the opportunities to be him.
It is inevitable for me to think about how he pummeled Dogecoin and Bitcoin itself. And, as he is, a person undoubtedly free of his actions, he can take any stance he wants in any scenario, some will be small successes and others will be total devastation. One small hit was to have bet that his comments would send these cryptocurrencies up after he bought in.
This just tells me that no matter who you are, you are mired in all the mistakes that characterize us as humans. What Elon Musk has done, will it be a mistake or right, will it be a mistake or right to send his advertisers to sh*t? The clearest answer would be if X starts to grow and becomes one of the social networks of choice for users. Sure, it will be a small success. But, if X goes bankrupt, it will have become the worst of all times, a cancer for the network, and that now the world is much worse because of it... These are just assumptions, of course.
Was it right or wrong for him to exit his advertisers in this way?
I think, if X didn't have him heading the company, I would certainly tell you it was wrong. But, of course, X would not be what it is now, without him. Thinking of his right to free speech, he did nothing wrong, nor did he harm anyone else, except his own company, although you have to applaud his convictions and beliefs he stands up for them even when an economic boycott knocks on his office door. More than one has applauded him, when he tells it like it is, to all those who step out of social norms, presidents, CEOs, companies, or individuals. In this case, it was no different, it was his way of responding to the pressure they wanted to impose on him, perhaps to make him bend or appease a little.
But, whether it was right or wrong, I think more than 90% of us would say it was wrong. But, there is something very true, those same percentages are not necessarily billionaires. So, it's hard to say whether it's right or wrong. Because of his beliefs and to tell others you don't impose your rules on my business, I would say he is right. But, if by that action my company and my employees will suffer the consequences then I would say it is the wrong thing to do.
It will be interesting to see the evolution of X and especially Elon Musk, I can't imagine him as a child now insulting everyone. What is certain is that whatever happens with X. Elon Musk has the intelligence, resources, and experience to dive into a new project, turn the page, move on and I would venture to say without powerful advertisers. But, I'm sure his future allies would thank him for more than... You guys please finish the sentence.

Pero, entre tantos buenos temas creo que el tema de Elon Musk mandando a la mier9@ a muchos de sus ex anunciantes es muy atractivo, como para dejar pasar.

Y, todo esto debido a algo que no se sabría decir si es su fortaleza o su más grande debilidad, sus comentarios sin filtro. Exactamente cuando hizo comentarios considerados antisemitas recientemente. Por lo que veo no es la primera vez que hace este tipo de comentarios. Estos, sumados a la reciente tensión entre los estados árabes e Israel, es algo que es muy difícil dejar pasar o al menos considerar como una broma.
Supongo, que no muchos reaccionarían como lo hizo Musk, que sin pensarlo mucho mandaba a la mier9@ a esos anunciantes que lo abandonaban en plena entrevista. Incluso, cuando muchos CEOs o directores de empresas meten la pata, tratan de que la cosa no pase más de ahí y evitan molestar más o al menos tratan de tener a sus aliados lo más confortables posible. Pero, no muchos están en una postura como la de Elon Musk.
¿Me pregunto que se sentirá tener tanta soberbia? Para hacer las cosas como lo ha venido haciendo, significa que conoce muy bien su panorama y las consecuencias de sus acciones. Es sin duda, un personaje muy inteligente, que ha sabido surcar las barreras y aprovechar las oportunidades de ser él.
Me es inevitable pensar en cómo pumpeo Dogecoin y al propio Bitcoin. Y, como es él, una persona sin duda alguna libre de sus actos, puede tomar la postura que él quiera en cualquier panorama, algunos serán pequeños aciertos y otras serán una devastación total. Un pequeño acierto, fue haber apostado a que sus comentarios harían subir estas criptomonedas después de haber comprado.
Esto solo me dice que sin importar quién seas, estás sumido en todos los errores que nos caracterizan como humanos. Lo que ha hecho Elon Musk ¿serán errores o aciertos? ¿será un error o un acierto mandar a la mier9@ a sus anunciantes? La respuesta más clara sería, si X empieza a crecer y se vuelve una de las redes sociales de preferencia de los usuarios. Seguro, será un pequeño acierto. Pero, si X quiebra, se habrá convertido en el peor de todos los tiempos, un cáncer para la red y que ahora el mundo es mucho peor por él… Estas son solo suposiciones, por supuesto.
¿Estuvo bien o mal que saliera de sus anunciantes de esta forma?
Creo que, si X no lo tuviera a él encabezando la compañía, sin duda te diría que estuvo mal. Pero, por supuesto, X no sería lo que es ahora, sin él. Pensando en su derecho a la libertad de expresión, no hizo nada malo, tampoco dañó a nadie más, salvo a su propia compañía, aunque hay que aplaudir que sus convicciones y creencias las defiende incluso cuando el boicot económico le toca la puerta de su oficina. Más de uno le ha aplaudido, cuando dice las cosas como son, a todos esos que salen de las normas sociales, presidentes, CEOs, empresas, u personas. En este caso no fue distinto, fue su forma de responder a la presión que le querían imponer, tal vez para que se doblegara o apaciguara un poco.
Pero, si estuvo bien o mal, creo que más del 90% de las personas diríamos que estuvo mal. Pero, hay algo muy cierto, esos mismos porcentajes no necesariamente son billonarios. Así que, es difícil decir si está en lo correcto o no. Por sus creencias y para decirle a otros tu no me impones tus reglas en mi negocio, diría está en lo correcto. Pero, si por ese accionar mi empresa y mis empleados sufrirán las consecuencias entonces diría está en lo incorrecto
Será interesante ver la evolución de X y especialmente de Elon Musk, no lo imagino como un niño ahora insultando a todos. Lo cierto es que pase lo que pase con X. Elon Musk tiene la inteligencia, los recursos y la experiencia para sumirse en un nuevo proyecto, pasar la página, seguir adelante y me arriesgaría a decir sin poderosos anunciantes. Pero, estoy seguro que sus futuros aliados le agradecerían más de… Ustedes por favor terminen la frase.
