AAVE Protocolo: Prestamos con tus Criptos a tan solo un Click

Saludos, queridos amigos de Hive Blockchain. Una de las mejores opciones que tenemos los entusiastas y amantes de la tecnología de cadenas de bloques, a mi parecer, son las oportunidades en Finanzas Descentralizadas o DeFi. Particularmente, vivo, explorando, estudiando, descubriendo y aprendiendo todo sobre este mundo fascinante y sus múltiples beneficios. Es por ello, que hoy quiero hablarles un poco sobre un protocolo que me parece muy interesante, donde podremos no solo obtener retornos con nuestras criptomonedas, sino que también tendremos la posibilidad de conseguir un préstamo con la garantía de nuestras mismas criptomonedas, nada más. Se trata de la plataforma AAVE, un protocolo descentralizado especializado en préstamos personales, en donde cualquier persona puede depositar sus criptos para generar ingresos de los préstamos que otros usuarios soliciten, además de poder pedir uno para sí mismo, con la garantía de su propio depósito, sin la necesidad de un tercero que se involucre en la operación.

Greetings, dear friends of Hive Blockchain. One of the best options we blockchain technology enthusiasts and lovers have, in my opinion, are the opportunities in Decentralized Finance or DeFi. Particularly, I live, explore, study, discover, and learn everything about this fascinating world and its multiple benefits. That is why today I want to talk a little about a protocol that I find very interesting, where we can not only get returns with our cryptocurrencies but also have the possibility of getting a loan with the guarantee of our own cryptocurrencies, nothing more. This is the AAVE platform, a decentralized protocol specialized in personal loans, where anyone can deposit their cryptocurrencies to generate income from the loans that other users request, in addition to being able to request one for themselves, with the guarantee of their own deposit, without the need for a third party to be involved in the operation.

DAO: Desarrollo e Impulso Comunitario

Al tratarse de un protocolo descentralizado, no se requiere de un responsable, ente u organización encargada para que este funcione. Ahora bien, el protocolo se maneja a través de una DAO u Organización Autónoma Descentralizada, donde la comunidad que es poseedora del Token AAVE, puede votar sobre la dirección que debe tomar el proyecto, la cual ha funcionado sin problemas desde su implementación. Antes de convertirse en el protocolo AAVE (fantasma en danes), fue creado en principio con el nombre de ETHLend en 2017, cambio a AAVE en 2018, en 2020 lanzo su Token de gobernanza, llegando a lo que conocemos hoy pero, sin parar en mejoras e innovaciones constantes. Para tener idea de como funciona, pensemos en la forma en que obtenemos un préstamo en una institución financiera, por ejemplo, para comprar un vehículo o una casa. Primero, como es obvio, habrá que dirigirse a la institución financiera en cuestión. Luego, debemos cumplir con los requisitos exigidos para dicho préstamo. Además, debemos ofrecer una garantía por el préstamo, que en este caso, podría ser una reserva de dominio por el vehículo o vivienda, con lo cual, el banco asegura la recuperación de su dinero en caso de que no se cumpla con el pago del préstamo.

DAO: Community Development and Impulse

As it is a decentralized protocol, it does not require a responsible person, entity or organization in charge for it to work. However, the protocol is managed through a DAO or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, where the community that holds the AAVE Token, can vote on the direction the project should take, which has worked smoothly since its implementation. Before becoming the AAVE (ghost in Danish) protocol, it was first created under the name ETHLend in 2017, changed to AAVE in 2018, in 2020 launched its governance token, reaching what we know today but, non-stop in constant improvements and innovations. To get an idea of how it works, let's think about how we get a loan from a financial institution, for example, to buy a vehicle or a house. First, of course, you have to go to the financial institution in question. Then, we must comply with the requirements for such a loan. In addition, we must offer a guarantee for the loan, which in this case, could be a reservation of title for the vehicle or house, with which, the bank assures the recovery of its money in case the loan is not repaid.

Ahora bien, con los contratos inteligentes, ya no hay necesidad siquiera de salir de casa. Con una conexión a internet y un dispositivo informático, solo necesitaríamos tener una billetera compatible con el protocolo y las criptomonedas para acceder a un préstamo, el cual tendrá como garantía, precisamente, las criptomonedas que depositemos. Esto se conoce como colateral y requiere que esta garantía sea mayor al préstamo a que se aspira. Con los contratos inteligentes, todas las condiciones de la operación se incluyen en el código del contrato y a medida que se van cumpliendo las mismas, se ejecutan las transacciones correspondientes. Por ejemplo, si tienes $100 en MATIC, puedes depositar ese dinero en AAVE y de inmediato, pedir un préstamo de hasta el 75% de este monto, es decir, $75. Si tu garantía ya no es suficiente para cubrir el monto prestado, usualmente por la baja drástica del valor de la criptomoneda en cuestión, el contrato se ejecutará y tu garantía se usará para cancelar el préstamo que debemos. Ahora bien, si depositamos la cantidad necesaria para cancelar el préstamo y los interese acordados, nuestro depósito colocado en garantía se liberará y podremos disponer del mismo de inmediato. En todo este proceso, estaremos generando ganancias según la tasa de rendimiento de nuestro depósito y si las condiciones de precio y mercado resultan favorables, incluso se puede obtener un rendimiento por encima de lo que nos toque pagar por el interés del préstamo. Todo esto se realiza de forma automática, sin la mediación de nadie, solo la interacción de los usuarios con el protocolo.

Now, with smart contracts, there is no need to even leave home. With an internet connection and a computing device, we would only need to have a wallet compatible with the protocol and cryptocurrencies to access a loan, which will have as collateral, precisely, the cryptocurrencies we deposit. This is known as collateral and requires this collateral to be greater than the loan we aspire to. With smart contracts, all the conditions of the operation are included in the contract code and as they are fulfilled, the corresponding transactions are executed. For example, if you have $100 in MATIC, you can deposit that money in AAVE and immediately, borrow up to 75% of this amount, i.e. $75. If your collateral is no longer sufficient to cover the amount borrowed, usually due to a drastic drop in the value of the cryptocurrency in question, the contract will be executed and your collateral will be used to pay off the loan we owe. Now, if we deposit the amount needed to pay off the loan and the agreed interest, our deposit placed as collateral will be released and we will be able to dispose of it immediately. Throughout this process, we will be generating profits according to the rate of return on our deposit and if the price and market conditions are favorable, we can even obtain a return above what we have to pay for the interest on the loan. All this is done automatically, without the mediation of anyone, only the interaction of users with the protocol.

Para acceder a un préstamo en AAVE, necesitaremos una billetera compatible con el protocolo. Actualmente, AAVE opera en dos versiones, con la blockchain Ethereum, Avalanche y Polygon en su Versión 2 y Arbitrum, Avalanche, Fantom, Harmony, Optimism y Polygon en su Versión 3. Esto lo estaré explicando en una próxima publicación, pero en principio, es preferible ingresar en la Versión 3. Debes tener claro para qué podrías necesitar un préstamo, ya que se tratan de operaciones automáticas y que dependen de la estabilidad del precio de las criptomonedas. Por la tanto, existe un riesgo inherente de que tu depósito pueda ser liquidado en caso de una baja abrupta del precio. Te recomendaría estudiar bien las características del protocolo y tener muy clara la visión de como usaras el préstamo. Para ello, puedes iniciar visitando la página de información y documentación del protocolo, a través de este enlace. Por ejemplo, podrías pedir un préstamo si tienes certeza de que una moneda subirá de precio, depositando tu garantía, con el préstamo, comprar dicha moneda, venderla y luego pagar el préstamo con la ganancia en la diferencia de precio. Parece simple, pero requiere mucho estudio y aprendizaje de todos los factores involucrados. Otra opción sería, por ejemplo, solicitar un préstamo para adquirir algún bien o servicio, con tus ingresos habituales, ir depositando más monedas en el protocolo y así ir pagando dicho préstamo con el correr del tiempo, lo cual sería perfectamente válido si el precio de la cripto no varía de forma excesiva. Es como una manera de ahorrar y aprovechar los beneficios del protocolo para generar ingresos. Pero insisto, requiere de estudio y entender como funciona el proceso.

To access a loan on AAVE, we will need a wallet compatible with the protocol. Currently, AAVE operates in two versions, with the blockchain Ethereum, Avalanche and Polygon in its Version 2 and Arbitrum, Avalanche, Fantom, Harmony, Optimism and Polygon in its Version 3. This I will be explaining in a future post, but in principle, it is preferable to enter in Version 3. You should be clear about what you might need a loan for, as these are automatic trades and dependent on the stability of the cryptocurrency price. Therefore, there is an inherent risk that your deposit may be liquidated in case of an abrupt price drop. I would recommend you study well the characteristics of the protocol and have a very clear vision of how you will use the loan. To do this, you can start by visiting the protocol's information and documentation page, via this link. For example, you could ask for a loan if you are certain that a currency will rise in price, deposit your collateral, with the loan, buy that currency, sell it and then pay the loan back with the profit on the difference in price. It sounds simple, but it requires a lot of studies and learning about all the factors involved. Another option would be, for example, to request a loan to purchase some good or service, with your usual income, deposit more coins in the protocol, and thus pay the loan over time, which would be perfectly valid if the price of crypto does not vary excessively. It is like a way to save and take advantage of the benefits of the protocol to generate income. But I insist that it requires study and understanding of how the process works.

La primera opción para generar ingresos en AAVE son los rendimientos por aportar liquidez, con lo cual, al depositar nuestras criptomonedas, podremos obtener ganancias según las tasas de rendimiento establecido para cada moneda. Para obtener una visión general del rendimiento de cada una de las monedas que podemos depositar en el protocolo, vamos a la seccion MARKET y allí visualizar esta información, la cual se actualiza en tiempo real. Conectaremos nuestra billetera, eligiendo de las opciones disponibles, como pueden ser, extensión de navegador (MetaMask, Brave Wallet), Wallet Connect, Torus, Coinbase y otras. Luego de conectar, aparecerán listadas las criptomonedas que mantengas en tu billetera según la red en la que te has conectado. En la opción SUPPLY, podrás depositar tus criptomonedas en el protocolo, aceptando las transacciones que se te pidan a través de tu billetera. Debes tener saldo suficiente en la criptomoneda de la red que uses para pagar las comisiones, por ejemplo, MATIC si estás en Polygon o ETH para la red de Ethereum. En la sección DETAILS, tendrás una vista general con información relevante sobre los beneficios de depositar dicha moneda, así como información sobre tus depósitos en el protocolo.

The first option to generate income in AAVE is the yields for providing liquidity, with which, when depositing our cryptocurrencies, we can obtain profits according to the rates of return established for each coin. To get an overview of the performance of each of the coins that we can deposit in the protocol, go to the MARKET section and there view this information, which is updated in real-time. We will connect our wallet, choosing from the available options, such as browser extensions (MetaMask, Brave Wallet), Wallet Connect, Torus, Coinbase, and others. After connecting, the cryptocurrencies you keep in your wallet will be listed according to the network you are connected to. In the SUPPLY option, you will be able to deposit your cryptocurrencies in the protocol, accepting the transactions requested through your wallet. You must have sufficient balance in the cryptocurrency of the network you use to pay the commissions, for example, MATIC if you are in Polygon or ETH for Ethereum network. In the DETAILS section, you will have an overview with relevant information about the benefits of depositing such a coin, as well as information about your deposits in the protocol.

Una vez depositadas tus criptomonedas, tendrás la misma listada en Tus Suministros, con información del interés que recibirás por mantenerla en la plataforma. Puedes establecer que la misma se use como colateral o no, moviendo el pequeño botón indicado. Esto significa, si está activado, que podrás usar dicha moneda como garantía para un préstamo o si no piensas pedir alguno, puedes desactivarla. Con el Botón BORROW, pedirás el préstamo que se te permita según el colateral depositado. En la ventana que se te abrirá, revisa las condiciones del préstamo y si estás de acuerdo, acepta la transacción y firma la misma en tu billetera. Al estar confirmada la transacción, tu préstamo estará disponible para retirar, depositar o incluso pagar de nuevo el préstamo solicitado.

Once you have deposited your cryptocurrencies, you will have them listed in Your Supplies, with information about the interest you will receive for keeping them on the platform. You can set it to be used as collateral or not, by moving the small button indicated. This means, that if it is activated, you will be able to use this currency as collateral for a loan, or if you do not plan to ask for one, you can deactivate it. With the BORROW button, you will ask for the loan you are allowed according to the collateral deposited. In the window that will open, review the loan conditions and if you agree, accept the transaction and sign it in your wallet. Once the transaction is confirmed, your loan will be available to withdraw, deposit, or even repay the requested loan.

Realmente es muy sencillo acceder a un préstamo en AAVE, necesitando para ello, tan solo depositar nuestras criptomonedas y ajustarnos al monto que se nos permita solicitar con nuestro colateral. Es una manera efectiva y rápida de obtener liquidez para diferentes proyectos que deseamos iniciar o ejecutar. Como lo dije al principio, se requiere cierto nivel de estudio y aprendizaje, así como asumir claramente los riesgos que implica involucrase con este protocolo. Si bien es claro el beneficio de total libertad y acceso directo al préstamo, lo es también la efectividad de los contratos inteligentes que aseguran las operaciones y la devolución de los préstamos, ejecutando las garantías en caso de una baja significativa del precio de nuestra cripto colocada a este efecto. Pero entendiendo y estudiando bien todos estos aspectos, de seguro que podremos sacarle el mayor provecho a esta excelente oportunidad de ingresos y solución moderna en el área de las Finanzas personales, aprovechando el poder de la tecnología blockchain y DeFi. It is really very easy to access a loan in AAVE, needing only to deposit our cryptocurrencies and adjust to the amount that we are allowed to request with our collateral. It is an effective and fast way to obtain liquidity for different projects we wish to start or execute. As I said at the beginning, it requires a certain level of study and learning, as well as clearly assuming the risks involved in getting involved with this protocol. While the benefit of total freedom and direct access to the loan is clear, so is the effectiveness of smart contracts that ensure the operations and the repayment of loans, executing the guarantees in case of a significant drop in the price of our crypto placed for this purpose. But understanding and studying well all these aspects, for sure we will be able to make the most of this excellent income opportunity and modern solution in the area of Personal Finance, taking advantage of the power of blockchain and DeFi technology.
