A hard thing to do, right? Considering they come "for free".
But let's leave that aside for a moment. Do you realize we have 5 ongoing airdrops/claimdrops (that I can list of the top of my mind) simultaneously and for at least a medium term on Hive right now?
Let's enumerate them, just in case they became such an ordinary thing in your daily routine, you forget how much they mean.
- the Splinterlands SPS daily claimdrop (still almost 4 months till the end)
- the Splinterlands vouchers daily airdrop (no ending date, potentially going on forever)
- PeakMonsters airdrops (there is a max supply; could go on for 5 years, 10 years or 50 years, who knows?)
- PolyCub daily claimdrop (still about 30 days to the end, the shortest of them)
- SPK Network LARYNX monthly claimdrop (11 months to go)
There are quite a few other airdrops happening on Hive-Engine from new projects occasionally. From some of them you might hear again, from others that's the only time you see them, when the tokens magically appear in your wallet.
From the list above, 2 are airdrops and 3 are claimdrops, meaning you have to actually claim them to be dropped to you.
But only in 1 of the 3 cases you would actually lose your drop if you don't claim it in due time. In the other two cases, it accrues until you decide to claim.
The project where you'd actually have to claim your tokens every time or otherwise forfeit them is SPK Network. The good news is that you have an entire month to claim your tokens.
The bad news is that you'd have to remember. :) Every month! So add an alarm, I guess. Or wait for posts like this reminding you to claim your tokens.
I'm happy to see the small bugs we noticed on the spk.dlux.io interface have been fixed in the meantime, which is great for the ease of use, especially for those experiencing them.
In the simple interface, you'll also notice there is a way to see what months did you claim your drop and months you missed:
If you have more than one account having HIVE or HP at the beginning of the year, go claim your LARYNX tokens for April for all of them!
Right now that's what you can do with your LARYNX tokens: claim them. You can trade them too for HIVE or HBD, but no staking. You can run a node to support the DEX, for the trading fees, and in this case you'd need to lock your LARYNX, otherwise locking is not for you.
But I heard delegation of these tokens to existing node operators may become an option soon, to share some staking rewards. So I keep holding my LARYNX miners, until there are more use cases when they can show their power.
The unclaimed tokens over the one-year period will not be wasted. I don't think it has been decided yet what their destination will be, but they will have a use case.
Just think about it. Most likely exchanges didn't claim, and if they did, they won't do it every month. That'll be a huge amount of unclaimed LARYNX miners that can be used later.
So, at least 2 airdrops and 3 claimdrops currently ongoing on Hive (well, technically PolyCub is not on Hive, but many Hive community members are beneficiaries). Ain't bad, huh?
And we haven't gotten to
- Ragnarok claimdrop or airdrop
- future CUB-related airdrops
- Project Blank airdrop
- Potentially a governance token for LeoFinance airdrop
- Potentially an airdrop for a second layer platform Blocktrades might be building
- etc...
