As a growing child, my parents weren't that wealthy and so I didn't have the opportunity that a few rich kids get but one thing my parents always do was tell me money believes the hung on to. I have learnt that this beliefs aren't all true and so I will be willing to share them with you here.
I do not know if your parents gave you financial advice but my parents did to their capabilities and while I cherish their words of wisdom, a few things they told me didn't sit well with me.
One day I was going to buy a pair of trouser but then my dad called me and said to me, "son, do you know that when you spend less you get more wealthy?"
This isn't all that true but it isn't a lie as well. It wasn't just analyzed properly. While lowering expenses wouldn't make you rich, it will reduce the money leaks you have in your account. In in order to be wealthy, one thing you need to do is increase your money generating streams. Putting all your time into growing your income makes you wealthy while spending less reduces your money leak.
I was with a woman while I was 12 years old and she said to me, "do you know that this health issues i am having is because I am not rich? When you are rich, all your problems go away". This is another lie that so many people who are poor or financially incapable believe in. The truth is that money doesn't solve all problem, and the presence of money doesn't mean you wouldn't have any problem, rather money would only solve the money problem. When you have acquired wealth to a level, you start to understand that money isn't the solution to your problems.
Another lie was told to me when I was walking with a man and he pointed at a building telling me that the owner of the building was an evil person. I was very confused and asked why is the owner evil, and he answered, "Money is the root of all evil". having money can't make you an evil person, in fact money isn't evil at all. This quote is often common among poor people who believe that rich people are wicked and would do anything to remain at the top without giving chance to the poor to get up the ladder as well.
These are the Money Lies that I was told as a child. If you were also told a few money myths and/or lies, you can share them here.
