Recently, the topic "How to convert $HBD into $BTC (preferably anonymously)" was brought up on the Hive JA community Discord server.

I have always kept my $BTC in an account at a Japanese exchange. But with the constant unsettling news about the loss of funds due to exchange hacks and the collapse of FTX, I have finally decided to self-custody with a hardware wallet this spring. There are others in the community besides me who are practicing bitcoin self-custody. So what I mean above by "converting $HBD to $BTC" means finally storing our bitcoins in our own wallets!
I want to buy $BTC with my Hive blog earnings
The price of $BTC has gone up quite a bit recently, and it has become more difficult for me to feel comfortable using $JPY to buy $BTC. However, I don't think it's a bad strategy to convert $HBD to $BTC while blogging on Hive and accumulating Hive Power (not financial advice, of course)
In my case, I have not been withdrawing Hive funds out of the Hive chain for some time now, as my blogging earnings have often been used up within the Hive chain (for purchasing assets in Splinterlands, community management, etc.). Therefore, I wrote this post to ask for your wisdom on what routes are available these days for HIVE deposits and withdrawals. By the way, Binance is not available for Japanese residents. Japanese can use Binance Japan, but they do not service $HIVE...!
SimpleSwap
The first thing that comes to mind is sending money using SimpleSwap: send $HIVE to SimpleSwap and receive it in $XRP or other currency at a Japanese exchange. We think this is a good method because it saves time and reduces the probability of remittance errors, since only one remittance is needed.

If $XLM is available on the exchange to which you are sending the money, it would be less expensive to send it with that. Then, convert it to $BTC at a Japanese exchange and send it to your self-wallet.
There are several exchanges in Japan that do not charge a fee for sending $BTC, so if you use such exchanges, you can exchange & send money from your HIVE account to your own wallet with as low a fee as possible.
However, when sending money this way, you must follow the travel rules and declare your personal information and the purpose of the transfer in detail when you send money from an exchange to your own wallet. When going through an exchange in Japan, it is impossible to avoid this procedure. Because it is so complicated, I prefer to send money to my personal wallet without going through a Japanese exchange if possible.
Maybe if I specify my own wallet address as the recipient instead of the exchange when I send money via SimpleSwap... but this would mean exchanging money for bitcoins, which would incur a high fee.
Hive Engine
You can also buy $SWAP.BTC by replacing $HBD with $SWAP.HIVE and send it to a bitcoin address.

The image shows the $SWAP.BTC transfer screen: if you send money directly from Hive Engine to your own bitcoin wallet, you can send it without going through CEX at all, so no personal information (even your email address) is tied to it. The fees don't seem too high either.
However, there are two problems. The first is that the minimum withdrawal amount is rather high, 0.01 SWAP.BTC. I have to save up quite a bit to be able to withdraw. This makes me feel a little uneasy, as I don't think I can do test money transfers, etc.

Second, the volume of transactions in $SWAP.BTC is low. Selling and buying are as shown in the image, so it is either not possible to buy at a good price or it will take a long time to execute at the desired price.
So, it is unlikely that I will be sending money in $SWAP.BTC, but it is good to know that it is an option in case of emergency.
Other Options
How do you guys withdraw funds from your HIVE account?
I would like to convert $HBD of my blog earnings into bitcoins and store it in my self-wallet. I am looking for a way to do this as anonymously as possible and with the lowest possible fees. If you have a good way to do this, could you please let me know?
My reasons for wanting to be "as anonymous as possible" are sentimental. I know that I have to declare my profits anyway, so I can't hide my income and assets just because my address is not linked to my personal information. It's just that when I withdraw money from a Japanese exchange, I have to enter the recipient's (my) personal information and the purpose of the money transfer, and the bitcoin address is tied to those details every time, and it's very stressful.

Oh, I recently found out about LEO DEX. Can this be used to withdraw $HIVE or $HBD? I flew to the site, but do I need a MetaMask login?
If you are using LEO DEX, what is your use for it? It would be great to know!
