The Splinterlands team is keep on doing new experiments and update in game to bring the game economy up. Splinterlands a play2earn game on Hive Blockchain provides the different way to earn different type of token/cryptocurreny within game. Some of the methods required players skill, time and patience and some are very easy and do not required much efforts (or I say no efforts). The first method involves the playing the game in different ranked play, tournament and Brawl play etc. The another method is staking your token and enjoy the Annual Percentage Rate ( APR), Which is a passive income also. The passive income in my opinion is a earning which we are getting at regular intervals of time and the we has to put a little or no efforts. The FD or Saving account in banks earning the interest are also one example for passive income.
SPS as passive income source
The SPS is Governance token in Splinterlands ecosystem. The token gives the ability to the token holders (in staked condition) to participate in proposal voting. The more staked SPS you are holding, more is your influence on proposal voting, which ultimately effect the decision based on the proposal. So it's kind of power in hands of the community and it's more towards decentralization of the project. Decentralization is the one basic concept behind the web3 and crypto space.
At present in addition to the voting right on proposal the staked SPS also a source of getting liquid SPS as airdrop. The amount of SPS airdrop is depends on the staked token you are holding and the the total not of staked token. More is your stake, more is your share. The more is total SPS staked number less is your share as it will distributed in all users asked the token. The ratio of player's staked token to the total staked token determines the amount a player will get.
At present the APR is 22% which is nice as compare to the current cryptocurreny market scenarios.
I am holding 83730 SPS in staked condition which earn me approximately 28 SPS daily along with 2.8 Vouchers. The total approximately value in USD is 0.84, at present it look low but I am not selling the token at current price. I will wait for market to improve and hopefully the price of SPS will also increase.
New Feature for SPS are on the way
As it has always been announced that the Collection Power will be replaced with staked SPS requirement. So if a player need to move up in the leagues for better rewards they need more staked SPS in their account. So now the question raised by some plays about the difficulty will be faces by new players.
As I dig and find that the low leagues so not required any SPS staking requirement to play and earn rewards. Please note in low leagues the players always have less change to get the good cards in rewards. To now the question is if they want to unlocked higher league they required 1) the good competitive deck to fight with opponents and 2) the Staked SPS requirement to unlock the leagues.
The 1st requirement may be filled by purchasing the cards or packs form the market or may be using the delegation or rental market.
Good news in the 2nd requirement may also be filled by Delegation market as the SPS delegation option will be available in the coming days along with the Collection Power change, which is expected to be implemented in the mid of July 2023. The rental market enables players to rent SPS from other people and then be able to stake it and get more rewards, ensuring that all players have access to the SPS.
The players will have the option for bidders to split up their bid into smaller chunks in order to make it more likely to be filled quickly. For example if some placed a bid for 10k SPS delegation, and their may be chance that the the complete order is not possible to fill immediately. So the bid may be filled in segment as a pocket of 1k SPS delegation of 10 number. So it's easy to get the desired delegation. The delegator benefit by earning passive income, while the bidders benefit by earning more in their league.
My Current SPS Holding & Price Chart
At present I am holding 85471 SPS token and maximum are in staked condition (precisely the 83759 SPS token are in stacked condition).

With current staked SPS I will be able to battle in the Gold League with my main account. But what about the alt account?
I have to seriously think of this if I want to continue paying my alt accounts also. One option is to purchase required SPS form market and make the alts to prepared for upcoming changes or I have to compromise with main account and share the SPS with delegation option. I will talk about same in another post in coming days.
The price of SPS was stable at 0.02$ for long time but now it slipped to 0.17 $ few weeks back. So 0.017$ looks like a new bottom price for the token.

Conclusion
The SPS is on low side form a long time but in my opinion the token has good scope in the future and so have a good potential also. The new use case will give strong support to the token and ultimately will help in increasing the price in future. At present the high number of liquid token in supply creates the sell pressure.
