I think I published most of the topics that I love to write about since I came to Hive, except one. Well, one of my passions is coins and collectible medals. However, you can't find anything in my blog about that. So what do I do? I just keep salivating through all posts from #silvergoldstacker members. However, finally, I got the courage to start interacting with the community. I ain't a member still, and I think I still need to show that I deserve to be a member of this interesting community. I have a good collection of coins and medals, but I left them at my father-in-law's house in Brazil. When we were moving to Canada we couldn't bring many things, and I thought keeping it safe with family would be the best. I left a binder, mostly with coins, including a silver eagle for sure, and some small personal boxes with some interesting treats, including a gold commemorative medal from Brazil's Independence. I didn't have many opportunities to go back, since I arrived in Canada in 2017, I only went there in 2022 (last year) and I stayed there for 10 days. So my father-in-law stored everything that we left there in his attic, which we need to climb using a wood ladder. I went to Brazil at that time but I was just starting a new job, so I continued to work during weekdays when I was there. Hopefully, the collection is still there, let's pray for that and maybe next year when we go there I can find it!
Eu acho que publiquei sobre a maioria dos tópicos que amo escrever desde que cheguei ao Hive, exceto um. Bem, uma das minhas paixões são moedas e medalhas colecionáveis. No entanto, você não encontra nada sobre isso em meu blog. Então o que eu faço? Apenas fico salivando ao ler todos os posts dos membros da comunidade #silvergoldstacker. No entanto, finalmente, tive coragem de começar a interagir com a comunidade. Ainda não sou um membro, e acredito que ainda preciso mostrar que mereço fazer parte dessa interessante comunidade. Tenho uma boa coleção de moedas e medalhas, mas deixei tudo na casa do meu sogro no Brasil. Quando estávamos nos mudando para o Canadá, não conseguimos trazer muitas coisas e eu achei que deixar com a família seria a melhor opção para mantê-las em segurança. Deixei um álbum, principalmente com moedas, incluindo uma águia de prata com certeza, e algumas caixas pequenas com algumas peças interessantes, incluindo uma medalha comemorativa de ouro da Independência do Brasil. Não tive muitas oportunidades de voltar, desde que cheguei ao Canadá em 2017, só retornei em 2022 (ano passado) e fiquei lá por 10 dias. Então, meu sogro guardou tudo o que deixamos lá no sótão, que precisamos acessar usando uma escada de madeira. Naquela época, eu estava começando um novo emprego, então continuei trabalhando durante a semana enquanto estava lá. Espero que a coleção ainda esteja lá, vamos rezar para que sim e talvez no próximo ano, quando formos lá, eu possa encontrá-la!
Well, since I am a very hungry collector, I couldn't stay quiet in here and started to create another collection, now my budget is much more limited, because we are in a new country, and now we have 2 kids to feed. So my new collection is very modest for now. I started just picking different circulating Canadian Coins. I also got by "luck" a coin from Ecuador. I added the quotes because in theory I was deceived, in my first day in Canada I got a change from a coffee shop. I noticed while I had just left the store, but since it was an interesting coin, I decided to keep it! I was telling some members that Canada is very interested in coins, since they are very active in minting new circulating coins every year, a little bit different from Brazil which mostly just changes the design of all coins once in a while. For now, I didn't acquire any new silver coins, I think my first silver coin in here NEEDS to be a Maple leaf coin, what do you guys think?
Bem, como sou um colecionador muito ávido, não pude ficar quieto aqui e comecei a criar outra coleção. Agora meu orçamento está muito mais limitado, porque estamos em um novo país e agora temos duas crianças para alimentar. Então, minha nova coleção é bem modesta por enquanto. Comecei apenas recolhendo diferentes moedas canadenses em circulação. Também consegui, por "sorte", uma moeda do Equador. Eu coloco as aspas porque teoricamente fui enganado; no meu primeiro dia no Canadá, recebi um troco em uma cafeteria. Percebi enquanto acabara de sair da loja, mas como era uma moeda interessante, decidi guardá-la! Estou dizendo a alguns membros que o Canadá é muito interessado em moedas, pois são muito ativos na cunhagem de novas moedas em circulação todos os anos, um pouco diferente do Brasil, que geralmente apenas muda o desenho de todas as moedas de tempos em tempos. Até agora, não adquiri nenhuma nova moeda de prata. Acho que minha primeira moeda de prata aqui PRECISA ser uma moeda Folha de Bordo (Maple leaf), o que vocês acham?
However let's stop the "bla bla bla" and let me show at least a couple of acquisitions that I got in here, and they aren't local. I remember that I met this collection here in Hive(sorry I don't remember the user who posted), it is a commemorative collection with science topics for British pounds. Lots of interesting scientists and scientific milestones are minted in their coins. They call it the "Innovation Science" collection. Since I work with science, that's a special topic for coins for me. So I bought two different ones on eBay. The first one of them is a 50 pence coin celebrating the insulin discovery ( yes I got also the Canadian toonie that celebrated this medical accomplishment). This coin is a regular uncirculated made with cupronickel mixture and it contains the Insulin chemical formula, the reverse we find the dead queen Queen Elizabeth II. The other coin is a two pounds coin celebrating the smallpox vaccine developed by Edward Jenner during the 19th century. On the front, you find many stick people drawings and on the reverse King Charles III, and I just read that this was the first 2-pound coin with his face issued by the Royal Mint, wow, it is a nice acquisition. This coin is also a mix of cupronickel material. The coin came in an acrylic capsule within a whole thing that includes also a pamphlet talking about Edward Jenner.
No entanto, vamos parar com o "blá blá blá" e deixe-me mostrar pelo menos algumas das aquisições que fiz aqui, e elas não são locais. Lembro-me de que conheci essa coleção aqui no Hive (desculpe, não lembro o nome do usuário que postou), é uma coleção comemorativa com temas científicos para as libras britânicas. Muitos cientistas interessantes e marcos científicos estão cunhados em suas moedas. Eles a chamam de coleção "Inovação Ciência". Como trabalho com ciência, é um tópico especial de moedas para mim. Então comprei duas diferentes no eBay. A primeira delas é uma moeda de 50 centavos comemorando a descoberta da insulina (sim, também comprei a moeda de dois dólares canadenses que celebra essa conquista médica). Essa moeda é uma versão regular não circulada feita com uma mistura de cuproníquel e contém a fórmula química da insulina, no verso encontramos a rainha Elizabeth II. A outra moeda é uma moeda de duas libras comemorando a vacina contra a varíola desenvolvida por Edward Jenner durante o século XIX. Na frente, você encontra muitos desenhos de pessoas e no verso o Rei Charles III, e acabei de ler que essa foi a primeira moeda de duas libras com o rosto dele emitida pela Casa da Moeda Real, wow, é uma ótima aquisição. Esta moeda também é feita de uma mistura de cuproníquel. A moeda veio em uma cápsula de acrílico dentro de um pacote que inclui também um panfleto falando sobre Edward Jenner.
