Hey folks.
Trust Wallet, which is a non-custodial digital wallet for storing cryptocurrency, was acquired by Binance back in 2018, has allegedly been removed from Google play marketplace.
Users are now directed to a blank page when attempting to access the app's page on Google play. This indicates that the app is no longer available on Google play.
The reason is not know as of press time and neither Google play nor Trust Wallet has issued any public statements on the issue.
The native token of Trust Wallet (TWT) plunged by over 5% shortly after the news broke, according to CoinGecko's data.
Trust Wallet was established in 2017 and provides users with non-custodial storage services for crypto across different blockchain networks. Trust Wallet was then acquired by Binance, the leading crypto exchange back in 2018, though the financial side of the deal remains undisclosed thus far.
The latest news was emerged soon after the FBI issued a warning to Americans to avoid using cryptocurrency services from companies that are not registered as Money Services Businesses (MSBs) and not following anti-money laundering rules.
It's not clear if the decision from Google about removing Trust Wallet is connected to this warning as reportedly other non-custodial crypto wallets remain available on Google play at this time.
