Happy New Year LEO Community!
Picture of me swooping in to buy the dip
I've been thinking of exploring Leo for some time now, but I'm a bad procrastinator, and kept telling myself I will do it "tomorrow". Well now we're in the first day of 2021, so what better tomorrow could I be waiting for? I have after all been part of the Hive, former Steemit community since 2017! So guess it's time to get to know everyone else in the neighbourhood!
Mind you i also joined for more reasons than just to explore LEO, I also plan to create content too. I am by no means a financial expert, though I am decently knowledgeable in computers since I work in tech support. I am mostly known as a longboard community organizer, and as an activist / truther by my friends. I also dabble in philosophy, theorizing new economic systems, self governance, co-ops, decentralization, and of course crypto. So my plan is to create content based around my own journey into crypto, using longboarding as a means to earn from content creation, and then investing my earnings into some of the many crypto projects to multiply the return on my efforts.
Hopefully I'll hit that perfect balance between being entertaining, educational, while remaining relatable to to the non crypto people i'm aiming to attract. So far I have gotten a few other longboarders to join Hive, but have yet to really get the ball rolling with that. However I just got one of the biggest names to join, so as long as he sticks to it and stays on board, I expect this will be the start of a wave of people joining from the longboarding world. The ultimate goal of the longboarding side of what I am doing, is to convince a company to create an account, power it up, and use it to support riders making content.
This is a win win for both the longboarding community, and Hive as well. The riders earn money, while Hive gets a huge international community, that's extremely tight, supportive, and full of people making content just to share the hype of skating with friends. This will make Hive a lot more entertaining place by bringing extreme sports to our platform, and recently sports channels keep showing longboarding footage on tv so I feel a lot of people have begun watching our sport.
!
Now aside from longboarding related things, lets talk about the future. Personally I think things like Hive, Leo, Defi, and more, are the begging to something much bigger! I think we're evolving to the point were governments, banks, and news organizations will become obsolete in their current forms. Taking voting for example: We have representatives and ballots since the inception of democracy because we used to travel by horseback, and there for we couldn't all attend a town meeting to vote on every issue. We also up until recently didn't have trustless systems such as blockchain, so even with technology we couldn't until recently replace that system safely. Now we could directly vote on issues if we please, with no need for a representatives, insecure communication, and the ability to confirm our votes got counted correctly on the blockchain.
So here is to 2021! Hopefully it really does turn into the roaring 2020's for crypto, and we see a start of a new era. Of course it's up to us to create that future, and I look forward to being a part of that will all of you, together.
Just a little taste for those of you who've never watched a longboarding video, here is one of my personal favourites:
