If you have been claiming Coingecko candies you would have read or noticed that they can now be exchanged with ACS, the native token of Access Protocol. You will need a Solana wallet address when redeeming. The redemption started over a week ago (9th December) and will end on the 15th of January 2023.
How to Redeem ACS Tokens
Logon to your Coingecko account and head over to the rewards section. Depending on your available Candies, you can claim different amounts of ACS tokens. There's a limit to the number of redemptions per account as follows:
2 redemptions for 250 and 500 $ACS each,
1 redemption for 1,000, 2,500 and 5,000 $ACS each.
After redeeming, go to "My Rewards", click on the voucher, then "Use Now" and copy the reward code because you will need to on the google form.
Google Form to fill in:
Make sure that you don't use the same reward code twice or you will be disqualified from the airdrop.
Repeat the process until you use all reward codes you have. It is indicated on the Airdrop Terms and Conditions that the $ACS airdrop will be distributed on the first quarter of 2023. The ACS received will then be automatically staked in CoinGecko’s pool to unlock or have access to Gecko Ramblings newsletter. Rewards earned from staking will then be redeemable and transferable.
What is Access Protocol?
It is a creator ecosystem providing a new method of monetization for creators, publications, and service providers. (Source)
Access Protocol offers a new model monetization layer for all digital content creators. By integrating Access Protocol on their site, creators can paywall and enable premium content to ACS stakers. (Source)
Its fungible token called ACS are needed to stake in the content creator's pool allowing users to have access to premium contents. Any ACS staking rewards are then equally shared between the creator and the consumer.
Here's the illustration of how it works via their Whitepaper.
Right now, the only way to acquire ACS tokens is through Coingecko candies as the public airdrop through link sharing has been closed a few days ago. Have no idea how this project would go but since I had some CoinGecko Candies, I took advantage of the airdrop and will see what happens when the tokens get distributed.
