Bitcoin's market value has historically seen great volatility because of its surging interest globally and in the most part because of speculators actively influencing its value by buying low and selling high or vice versa. Speculators, contrary to popular belief, allow bitcoin's price to quickly adapt to new information flowing into the market and are for the time being the prime factor in influencing the price. Remember that without the power of speculators bitcoin's volatility would be far greater due to the fact that only when people transact with bitcoins will the price follow, and because bitcoin still hasn't got enough adoption on regular markets that means it would make market cycles longer.

Lets watch the markets from an investor's point of view. Often a key idea which separates the good investors and the bad ones is their ability to manage risk. Seth Klarman in his book Margin of Safety makes a brilliant analisis of this issue under the lens of a Value Investor. (Margin of Safety is the difference between the intrisic value of a stock and it's market price).He determines that the key to a succesful investment is the proper assesment of the value of an asset in order to take a position which gives a higher probability of return. This means understanding that markets tend to get overvalued in time and vice versa. It is precisely when the markets are undervalued that a good position can be placed to increase your odds of landing a succesful trade in the long term. In reference to bitcoin this means price tends to move between periods of huge surges in price followed by corrections or downward moves and being aware of this actions can increase the returns for investors and speculators in the medium to long term.

El valor de mercado de Bitcoin ha visto historicamente una gran volatilidad debido al creciente interés global y es debido en su mayor parte a los especuladores que activamente influyen en su precio comprando barato y vendiendo alto o viceversa. Los especuladores, al contrario de la creencia popular, permiten que el valor de Bitcoin se adapte rápidamente a nueva información que aparece en el mercado y son por ahora el mayor factor de influencia en el precio. Recordad que sin el poder de los especuladores la volatilidad de Bitcoin seria mucho mayor debido a que sin especuladores el precio solo reflejaria cambios cuando alguien interactuase con Bitcoin, y debido a que Bitcoin todavia no tiene una adopción masiva esto haría que los ciclos fuesen más largos.

Observemos los mercados desde el punto de vista de los inversores. Normalmente la diferencia clave que separa a los buenos inversores de los malos es su habilidad para manejar el riesgo. Seth Klarman en su libro Margin of Safety hace un excelente analisis de esto desde la perspectiva de un Value Investor. (Margen de Seguridad es la diferencia entre el valor intrínseco de una acción y su valor de mercado). Determina que la llave para una inversion segura es el asesoramiento correcto del valor de cualquier acción para poder adquirir las acciones en el momento que tengan las mayores probabilidades de generar un beneficio positivo. Esto significa entender que los mercados siempre estan expuestos a periodos de sobrevaloración y viceversa. Y es cuando el mercado refleja un precio inferior al valor intrínseco del activo cuando se pueden dar las bases para una buena inversión a largo plazo reduciendo el margen de error.En referencia a Bitcoin esto significa que el precio tiende a moverse en sentido alcista o bajista durante largos periodos de tiempo y si somos conscientes de estos cambios podemos incrementar nuestros beneficios
