Don't put all your eggs in one basket
~ Anonymous
As the DeFi craze continues, more and more eggs are wrapped in a ETH backed shell. A quiet voice in my head has been bugging me, but it just hasn't been loud enough to make out the words.
Perhaps the clamor of an incumbent bull run drowned out the voice. Then in the hushed gasps of a dropping market, it pushed its way forward. However the method of amplification, the words were written on the wall today.
Could the warning from a major ETH developer be caused by FOMO. Could it be jealously that he doesn't have the assets to run an ETH 2 node? These may be easy pass offs on a series of Tweets that go into good detail.
Maybe it's nothing but my vivid imagination getting the better of me. I'm not a developer and don't follow blockchain code talk as well as programmers would. Talk about chains having an inability to fork on ETH 2, however, doesn't take a genius to understand.
Tweets That Make You Go Hmmmmm 🤔
Earlier today, Chase Wright spoke his concerns about the ETH 0 Testnet on Twitter. His series of Tweets have had a huge amount of engagement since the time I first saw it.
If any avid developers missed this, it seems like one to catch. Perhaps you were already well aware of the concerns Mr. Wright addresses. One message I'm able to take from it all is a consensus that ETH is not close to ready for launch.
That Doesn't Mean It Won't
A forced launch could be a bigger issue than anything. Just a few days back, an article featured on Signal highlighted an advanced timeframe for the launch of ETH 2.
One sentiment I read was that ETH 2 is way late in it's coming....and pushing much too fast to finish. If that's not pressure, you must be an air traffic controller.
What is relieving to see is all the engagement among developers that ensued on the thread. Another major developer posted a rebuttal (which I haven't read yet). And even Mr. Wright himself denounces any suggestions that he doesn't believe in ETH.
He's still not ready (or willing) to run a node on ETH 2. At least not with how the ETH 2 testnet currently operates.
What are your thoughts on so many billions wrapped up in ETH? Are you confident in ETH 2? Do you have any insights about this conversation as a developer? What coins do you favor (besides LEO, HIVE, & BTC) that are off the ETH network?
Do you think there may be too many eggs inside the Ethereum basket?
Thanks for reading and as always...
