Fishing facemask around my shoulders in case of human contact, I headed across the street to our community mailbox.
I was able to retrieve the mail without having to don the mask or awkwardly utter some nonsense through it to another person.
As I rifled through the various bill collection notices and offers for credit cards, I came across one letter you won't typically find on any given day.
Tearing through the envelope sent from the Department of the Treasury for the meaty contents inside and what do I find?
A brand new, spanking, sparkling, "You're Welcome" ... "Hang In There" ... "Stick Together" letter signed,
President Trump!
The letter begins with what appears to be official letterhead from The White House. I whited out our personal info as I'm sure no one here has any need for that.
Then it continues with some lengthy jargon about the passing of the 2020 Cares Act, along with some language intended to boost morale.
I hurried past all that stuff to see the one thing I already knew. How much money do we get? The letter could have been in the mailbox since the last time I checked it a week ago, for all I know.
We received the money by way of direct deposit at least 2 weeks ago. That part wasn't any news to us, but it was nice to see again. Besides, I was on the way down to the bottom, anyway, where the real treasure lies.
That bold Presidential signature by Donald Trump himself. It sorta looks like he used a Sharpie or pressed too hard with felt tip. Either way, it's a letter for the history books for sure.
Maybe it should go in a time capsule?
