Initially, I would have stood in awe of her abilities to get people to give out of their hard-earned money without asking for anything in return. The part where you have to give something in return for gifts is a lifestyle in this part of the world. Therefore, you shouldn't be surprised if I would stand in awe when this new friend of mine could do it without giving back.
But something in me has changed. What? I read the book, "Living Rich for Less" by Ellie Kay, and the author changed my mentality about giving. I did mention that all other books talk about giving after we might have gained wealth. Surprisingly, this book said different things. It taught me to give first even though I do not even have enough to feed on.
Therefore, I didn't stare at my friend in wonder because this book taught me about giving. I felt, she didn't understand. She must have thought she was wise, to be able to maneuver her way to get funds from other people. She had no idea that what they give her is only but a fraction of what they had. For Ellie Kay said, we should always give 10% of what we earn to others. So, if the people who gift her money do so, using this principle, then they are doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.
It has nothing to do with her abilities to talk or convince. It's a personality that is in the various humans who give out of their hard-earned funds. They have decided to give a part of their earnings to people who are in need. If they have read this book, then, 10% is a tiny fraction of what they have. For most people, it's a small portion, and they would give more if they wanted to.
This new friend of mine isn't the only one who thinks this way. There are more. I have them around me these days. They boast about getting gifts, and money without realizing that what happened is an honest transaction. A transaction is done out of kindness that has been instilled in those who have. Those who have been taught to give freely of their own, and never to keep all the spoils to themselves.

The world is filled with folks who cannot cater for themselves. And these philanthropists, whether, the small ones in our neighborhood, or the popular ones in the news, are doing the right thing. They understand that it's not everyone who can work. Not everyone is lucky to have the same privileges to create a wealthy bank. Philanthropists know this, and what they are trying to do is save the world from poverty in the little way they can.
They might not be able to eradicate everything, but the tiniest contribution helps. People get to have food to feed, they have reasons to look forward to another day. They can attend better schools, get good clothes, water and shelter. And it comes from the truest of hearts. They are not stupid folks, no, but, the people who take of them, with no gratitude in their hearts, think they are.
If you are ever in the same room with these people, you will hear all sorts of things. They will give remarks that break your heart. Most times, they say, " he is a stupid man, I ate of his hands, and I'll keep doing it, after all, what does he know", "She is a stupid woman, she thinks she is wise, imagine, I got her to send me that money, and she had no idea, I was lying to her"
Well, my book had taught me to shrug off their words because they have no understanding of how the world works. They do not have any idea how those who have enough to spare think. They have no idea that it's better to be a giver than to be a receiver. If only, they know. They would be grateful every time they receive the various help that they do.
Do you think I should explain this to them? I don't think so. They wouldn't understand. No, they won't agree. They will still think it's of their powers and their talking abilities.
Somewhere in their hearts, they know that they want to have a lot of money too, so they will be able to give to other people. Why are they thinking the person who gives them today never said this prayer yesterday, right before the days of prosperity.?
The world operates on different levels, and most times, you need the understanding to see what's going on. You need a deeper understanding to see through the realms of gift, money, and wealth.
