In the sea of emerging sidechains Harmony One is left unnoticed most of the time. The reason for that is probably a small variety of dapps users can use and explore but DeFi Kingdoms may be worth bridging some funds over to One.

What Is DeFi Kingdoms?
When I first got introduced to it, DeFi Kinddoms was just another farm on Harmony One as far as I was concerned. There was some content to explore but nothing was actually functional so I pooled some funds and forgot about it. According to the roadmap the plan is to turn it into a fully functional game over the next year or two.
In their own words:
DeFi Kingdoms (DFK) is a game, a decentralized exchange (DEX), a liquidity pool (LP) opportunity, and a market of rare utility-driven NFTs, that all plays out seamlessly in the incredibly nostalgic form of fantasy pixel art.
Right now, users can pool funds at high APR rates.
All rewards are paid out in Jewel that can be then staked in the Bank or used for purchasing in-game items. A portion of the rewards are locked so you will only be getting a part of those high APR numbers right away.
In order to ensure the stability of JEWEL for the long term, a portion of the JEWEL tokens earned in the Gardens are temporarily locked and cannot be used in any way. These locked tokens will slowly become unlocked beginning in Epoch 51 (est. Q3 2022). The unlocking process can also be accelerated through Mining quests.
All aditional info on the game and planned development can be found on the FAQ Page.
Is It Worth It?
Going all-in on this one definitely doesn't make sense. The floor price for heroes is 50 Jewel which is around $350. It would take you a lot of time to complete quests and get your investment back. Earning in the game is still very limited so pooling funds would probably be a smarter move right now.
Accumulating Jewel by providing liquidity in one of the pools provides consistent income and you can either sell it for profit or stake in the bank for the long term game. I'm personally in favor of investing a small percentage in the LP and accumulating Jewel until the full release next year. We should be able to get a lot of rocks in 12 months or so even with a small investment in the LP department.
The development and community aspect for this one shouldn't be overlooked. They have an active community on Discord, Reddit, and Twitter constantly providing feedback and promoting the game. It's reasonable to expect the team to follow the roadmap closely considering the success DeFi Kingdoms is enjoying so far.
Overall, the in-game economy seems well thought out. The final version introduces PVP tournaments with rewards paid out in Jewel. Combining that with a market where players can trade items, earn income in more ways than one or just play the game for fun, it sounds promising at least.

Note to self: Put it on the long-term shelf and forget about it until next Christmas.
