11 cent Hive is great, it is making growing and accumulating easy at the moment. Over the last couple of weeks, I've swapped over and started powering up HIVE.
Diversification.
It feels weird to be saying that I'm adding HIVE power to improve my diversification. Fact is that I've completely neglected growing my HIVE power over the last 6 months. Hive engine tokens and non-hive investments have been the priority, and that has been working well for me. But now I'm in a situation where HIVE is actually a fairly small component of my crypto, and it needs to be bigger. Since my recent power ups I've crossed over 10,000 HP, but the value of my Hive Engine tokens is closer to 50,000. Granted, a lot of this is LEO, but still I am feeling the need to bring that back to balance.
Growth.
I remember a couple of years ago, as a fairly new STEEM user, how hard it was to earn STEEM and grow. It seemed to take forever to go from 100 SP to 500, and hit that milestone. Nowadays, after 2 years of grind, and building a range of income and growth assets, I can add 500 HP each week at current prices. That is quite a mindshift, and while I know that everyone is in a different situation, It almost feels insulting to the platform where I have gained all my crypto knowledge, and eventually confidence to branch out and get involved in other chains, to not keep growing my account.
Keep the faith.
There seems to be a view around the place that HIVE doesn't have the growth prospects that many of us believed it had. I can see that point, but I still see hope. But growth will be different. HIVE is being less used for "stake and earn" and many new use cases are coming along. Games are a growing thing on the platform, and the recent addition of the NFT markets has seen a new use case develop. HIVE is becoming more of a transaction based token, and less of a "stake and earn" token. I see this trend continuing, but the "stake to earn" model is still valid. I think it will shift more towards "stake and delegate to earn" as the influence of apps built on top grows, and if HIVE governance decides to shift the P.O.B. rewards to a layer 2 solution (or an SMT type setup) then HIVE's role in the eco-system changes.
Crypto sentiment can turn.
The recent DeFi bubble shows that if a good idea takes off, It can gain huge momentum quickly. HIVE is highly scale-able and ready (once the glitchiness of the last HF is sorted) to handle an influx of new users. If more Apps develop and target ambitious growth like LEO and Splinterlands, HIVE can quickly regain relevance and awareness in the wider crypto community. One success story like LEO is great, when we have 5 or 10 different apps and businesses all taking HIVE out to where the audience is, the price of HIVE can turn on a dime and the current downtrend will turn into an uptrend. An increasing price has a snowball effect, with growth feeding into more growth.
So how much have I HPUD'd
Today (the actual HPUD day - not a lot really, around 125 HP. But over the last 4 days, I have added over 3000 HP. 3033.651 to be precise:
This has been a 30+% increase in my HP over the last 4 days.
Future goals.
- 15,000 HP by the next HPUD (Dec 1)
- 20,000 HP by the end of the year.
- 50,000 HP by July 2021.
Acheivable? who knows really, but I'll give it a go.
