It's been 2 months since I joined this community, in that time, it took me a couple of weeks to wrote my first post. I had a great welcome, the post got 102 votes, 14 comments, and 24.58 LEO in rewards. I felt pretty euphoric so it helped me to stay in this community.
In this post, you will read about my personal view of the past two months, what I was doing during this period of time, some of my struggles, and a few goals for the next months.
My routine
First, I open LeoFinance and then read your replies to my comments or posts, normally I got a few, like 3 or 4. So, after read them I left an upvote and/or a comment because this helps me to know which ones did I read and also because I like to reward and generate more engagement. In some cases, if the reply leads to writing another comment I do it, but sometimes I don't like to extend the conversation furthermore so I leave the upvote and keep going.
After, I open the feed page. Here, I can see all the posts written while I was sleeping by the users I follow. Because most of them write good quality posts like @taskmaster4450, @edicted, @acesontop, or @behiver, to name a few ones, I like to start by reading and curating their posts first, and if I have something to say, then I left a comment. Also, this makes me learn from them, giving me an orientation on what other people like to read here.
Lastly, I explore the recent posts because there are good ones that never go to the front page or curator's picks, so I start sifting through them. My criteria are the number of votes, the reputation, and the title. If there is a good mix of everything then I know it could be a good post but sometimes a good title is enough. Again, I read the post, upvote, and comment.
Right now my LP is pretty low and my votes don't worth anything at this point but is good to get used to this. About the voting power, what I do is leave it at 94% or so, because of this I know my VP will be at 100% in the morning and I can get the most of it.
Report
Leo
The tokens were earned by posting, commenting, and curating, and only 2 of them were earned via @leo.voter. Even I could put some money on it, I decided to do it this way because for me it was like a challenge. However, I did buy some other tokens related to LeoFinance as you will see next.
- Leo Token. Increased from 0 to 110, worth $44.75.
- LEOM. Buy my first set of 15 LEOM. I will keep buying each month and I hope to get at least 100 by summer.
- SPI. When I knew about this token, the philosophy, and whom the team behind @spinvest, I fell in love. So, to date, I did buy 40 tokens worth almost $34. I'll be buying more up to 500 by summer.
- LBI. I got the first one by sending 1 LEO to @lbi-token but the rest were bought on the market. This way, I managed to get it under 1 LEO value and avoided issuing more tokens. I own 45 LBI worth $18.5 and will expand up to 500 or 600 by summer.
I like diversification so I'll keep buying more of the tokens above. In addition, I would like to add BRO to the collection and buy more LEO since I see great potential with the new projects coming in.
Hive
In this case, I did buy HIVE on Binance. In my opinion, HIVE is underrated and has the potential to be part of a greater ecosystem. I used this HIVE mostly to power up my HP, delegate some to @leo.voter, and spent it on some games. Also, because is possible to get HIVE curation rewards I think is a must-have along with LP. I will keep buying more to power up my account and invest more in tokens and games.
Not related but no less important, I bought my first 100 AVA coins thanks to @trumpman because I agree with him that is still pretty cheap. I remember seeing it at $0.74 before going up 50%, now I'm hitting my head against the wall but I hope in this bearish period will go down again. My plan is to buy at least 5000 AVA and stake it for a nice 24% APY together with other advantages.
What Did I Improve On
Writing skills is the first thing it comes to my mind. I feel more confident when writing a post and is getting less frustrating to me. Before, I didn't believe too much in myself because I'm the introverted kind of guy, but after writing a few posts I started to believe. Now, I'm developing my own style and I know how to organize myself better. Also, I tend to structure my text more around what I want to write and questions that I want to answer.
About my comments, I noticed some improvement, the latest ones are more focused on create engagement. This happens because I stopped writing comments like "nice" or "I agree" and started to make it more personal, giving my opinion but leaving the debate open, making questions and my favorite, playing the "Sorry, I'm stupid" card. Well, there are some exceptions because I like joking or for example, replying with "thanks!" to another comment because for me is important that the other people know I read their replies.
Also, I learned a smart trick where you write related content to mention other users and get their attention. This means, they could read and vote for this post, and maybe one day, with luck, @onealfa.leo passes by and stamp his "Toruk was here" seal. I call this trick "call to arms". Anyway, I would like you to observe how I did this all over this post.
What I’m Going to Improve
My biggest flakes are English grammar and content creation. I find it difficult to bring a new idea on what to write every day, and when I have that nice idea then I deal with the creative block. In other words, I can't keep the consistency. Also, it doesn't help when I work 9-5 because my mind is tired after that and needs to rest.
Therefore, I try to distract myself with more pleasant leisure. To be honest, I'm not sure how to overcome this situation and improve on it. However, I searched for some courses in Udemy about this topic and I hope this helps me a little bit and I'll look for some books about this topic too, I accept recommendations.
About English grammar, my mother tongue is Spanish and because of this, sometimes I translate literally, so some sentences could sound a little bit weird or non-sense. Anyway, I will continue my English classes in the language school once the COVID situation gets better. Also, I found some good resources in Coursera that could help me.
Final thoughts
It wasn't a bed of roses to get here. Always the most difficult part is to start and face fears but I did it. However, what I expect now is to keep writing more content and focus on improving my skills. I want to give the best to this great community and help to make it grow. I'm still very far from it but I would like one day to make this my full-time job among my other passion which is investing, wealth creation and make this planet greener and cleaner.
Also, I want to thanks @tbnfl4sun again for its support and take the opportunity to say that you can undelegate your 20 HP because it fulfilled its function.
Next mark, 1,000 LP!
