Being involve in the early stages of something revolutionary has its advantages and disadvantages. I don't recall ever being part of something revolutionary, it is not a privilege majority of us have.
It is a different case with Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. For Bitcoin I feel it is a privilege given to humanity by Satoshi Nakamoto to be involved in this revolutionary form of money from its beginning. It is not the case of trial being done on Bitcoin with x amount of money required to move to the next stage, Bitcoin exists for everyone to get in on the revolutionary action, trusting no one but the protocol.
Thirteen years on we are still considered to be in the early stages of Bitcoin which is rightly so by the looks of the journey so far. The desire to have multiple currency hosted on blockchains sprung further, Ethereum emerged, today we have over 13k cryptocurrency in existence.
Bitcoin remains king of cryptos and I don't see that changing unless a bigger, stronger protocol is developed as it is the nature of man to keep building.
For the likes of us currently in the crypto space, it is safe to consider us as early adopters, while it is a privilege to be amongst the first participants for benefits like the financial gains over time, opportunities to be part of establishments around the technology, there are lots of challenges that comes with being crypto trailblazers with enough reason reason to quit.
Most of what we are involved in are a experimental while having the opportunity to keep building and expanding on the base layer as we experience with Hive. Without trusting anyone but the base layer code and developments we are able to judge future potentials of a particular cryptocurrency. Not ignoring the ones whose intentions are to exploit the system.
The choice of which cryptocurrency to opt for depends on an individual to do the research. Bear seasons come and go, likewise for bull season. Practically no one wants a bear season, we will rather have price of cryptos keep appreciating but realistically it doesn't work that way. Some crypto market crash are going to leave you humbled, sadly some get to take their lives, some of us take serious beating HODLing these are all not easy endeavors.
Crypto being here for the long term is unquestionable, the question I aske myself at times is how long will it take for mass adoption, how long will it take for us the early adopters to benefit handsomely, how far the rabbit hole are we up for?
