Couple weeks ago, I decided that It was time to get my money out of the bank and invest it somewhere. After lots of thinking, I came to the conclusion that the best investment for my personal profile and risk tolerance, was to invest in long lasting stocks with a history of +20 years that were paying growing dividends.
That's it, a dividend portfolio
After lots of trouble, I got my first brokerage account at Interactive Brokers and yesterday, I deposited my first 500$ to try the waters a little bit.
So today, I started to see what stock I could buy. I've been watching lots of videos this past weeks about it, so I had a rough idea of what stocks I would be buying.
My first pick was CocaCola, that at today's date, has a 3.20% dividend yield paid quarterly, and with the stock price being 9% down on the year.
I was just about to buy it since I noticed something:
Every stock on my list was falling.
Main Street Capital Corp ✔️
Realty Income Corporation ✔️
Coca Cola ✔️
Pepsi ✔️
JP Morgan ✔️
And so on.
Reading online, I saw that the economy is likely to suffer a recession, and that scared the heck out of me.
So with all of this, I think I'm gonna back off for now for a week to learn a little bit more about the general panorama of the economic global situation, to make a better and educated buy🧐
If you have any suggestions, I'll be happy to read you on the comment section.
Let's see how this unfolds from here 😄
