Last season on Splinterlands felt bad for me and this was because of the changes that were made in the game.
It felt as if I could no longer accumulate my gold chests, because of the SPS requirement. It was difficult to win as usual, and even when I won, I failed to accumulate as many chests as I would, it felt bizarre and even when I got into some decent streaks two to three days before the end of the season, I still found it very difficult to get to 30 chests.
Successfully Accumulating With Ease Is A Sign Of A Good Season
Last season I got 31 chests, this season I was stuck with a miserable 23 and I couldn't help but think this was because of the SPS requirement.
Although I have never sold any SPS. All my proceeds have gone into staking and holding for two years now. I still feel that I should have accumulated more when I could.
The general ideology on Splinterlands is that more chests mean more chances at better reward, but this isn't completely true.
Rewards on splinterlands have intrinsic value, personal value, sentimental value, and dollar value.
Non-monetary Value, Might Activate Better Earning Opportunities
One might get the type of reward they want and it might not even hold any dollar value in the market.
For example, I've been wanting to build level 4 to 5 soulbound summoners. While they implicitly have no dollar value at the moment, the value they'll bring to me is personal because they'll be helping me build my goal of owning higher-level summoners.
However, more chests don't necessarily mean better reward. You can have 80 chests of decent soulbound legendaries and still get no CL pack or SPS (which are the only two rewards that measure standard dollar value).
Back to my 23 chest rewards.
.....I didn't get any summoners like I often crave for. I expected the rewards to be really bad, but hold up, I unlocked three CL packs, inside a 23-chest reward It was surprising, this is the highest count of CL I'd ever get from a chest.
I didn't get to meet my other expectations, but then, I got myself that desired dollar value, the highest metric to measure standard rewards and it ranked in the best seasons I've had so far.
To be very honest, I don't really know what to expect from Every season seems to come with different changes thereby it's hard to put your expectations in a certain equilibrium.
Getting my guild cards
Sometimes you may start a season very well and end it disastrously and vice versa.
I think this will change when the bots are stopped from playing and when the changes stop coming week in and week out.
This might take a very long time to achieve in both modern and wild formats. However, the SPS requirement came with its own advantage and FOMO and it has bumped up the price of SPS so nicely.
The rate of people who would sell would marginally reduce, so even if it went up in price, the goal is to keep accumulating it, rather than see any prospective requirements to sell.
I go my first level six card
So unless you have excess in SPS, no one is really selling and people are accumulating more to meet the requirements.
So because of this, I'm just playing and competing with no stern expectations. My Guild play has been decent as well, and I'm still accumulating Gladius cards.
I'm still waiting for my first Gladius legendary and close to 4 months now I'm still waiting. My Guild has been decent and I'm glad I got to join and learn. Hopefully, this season will turn out as good as the last one. PS: It started badly already
