As a student, we were taught that communication is a skill that everyone should have. With a good communication skill, you can achieve anything you have set your mind to. Well, I learnt that and fortunately it has worked for me over the years. But as I left the four walls of the school and started life proper, I realized that it is not just okay to learn how to talk. There are other things that one needs to know too.
After i graduated, I ventured into business and I have learnt so much being in business. No wonder they said that "experience is the best teacher". I have experienced things first hand which has made me understand life better and living better than when I just flowed with the things I learnt over the years. Now business itself is a different ball game and before you even decide to venture into business, "*you must ensure that you are prepared. By preparation, I mean that you must have understood the business, analysed how it will work and then finally test the waters.
The reason why most people end up jumping from business to another is because they don't understand that they need to have a special skill to run their business. They think it is an attack from their village thus you see them running from one prayer house to another in the name of solution. One will ask, what is this skill? That special skill that every business owner should have is the ability to sell. You cannot be in business and not know how to sell your goods and services. In fact, that is an error and anyone in that shoe needs to be literarily flogged*.
One thing I tell people is that whatever thing you do in life, you must work hard for that thing to go just as you have planned. And this applies to your business to. To ensure that you sell out in your business, you must be ready to learn how to sell. In a business webinar I attended recently, we were taught that you need to learn sales and persuasion. It is this skill that will make your neighbor think that you have done something that is making you sell out your goods speedily. This just means that you need to be creative and look for ways to make sales.
Business is not easy and if you must be rich, then you should be willing to learn how to communicate effectively and most importantly, how to make sales. Improving your selling skills is a top priority if you want to succeed in business.
